how big do your balls have to be to pull the trigger on a spray gun? i know several women that do exellent paint work.
on the other hand it is entirely possible to loose a finger if you fuck up and use that pickle fork without knowing what the hell you are doing.

Sorry, I had to say something. I just wouldn't feel right letting you go easy on this one. You got a nice car. I was gonna say don't fuck it up, but you already did that. You need to undo everything you've done so far, take care of the mechanicals and figure out what style of build you're gonna do.

If your soo scared of cutting a coil and cant afford anything than you oughtta look into CAREFULLY heating the front coils.... Although I would never do it to any of my rides, If I were you I would be patient save some money and do it the right way...

He could start with UNRAISING the ass end,then UNPAINT the black bits, UNSTICKER the windows, just generally UNOLSKOOL it.....coz it started off looking BEAUTIFUL and seems to be a really straight car.

Oh and what i think was meant by saying it would take bigger balls to paint your car meant that it must take some pretty big balls to fuck up the perfectly good paint that it went over. Seriously, what kind of dumbass is afraid to cut a damn coil.

garvinzoom is right it's your car do it any way you want because no matter where you go sometimes someone who for some reason wants to be nasty will say some shit about your ride,this happens to me from the high dollar rodders,usually the Hambers don't rag about other peoples cars cuz they know there car is there way too.

Its simply a matter of if you want to take your car seriously or not. I started out with my '61 Impala years ago covering it in nekromantix stickers, skulls, painted the bitch satin black. Had my fun THEN I got into it more realizing how seriously you can take it, got my 1950, a true "sled" and Im doing that one the right way from the begining. Yeah the Impala is a 4 door and it runs great, I just use it as my rec cruiser. Its for fun, in time ill bring it back to a true, True traditional rod.

Maybe in time this dude will realize the real fun of the heritage and history of this genre. The fun in immersing yourself in research and information from allll directions AND GET RID OF FAKE SUMMIT FIBERGLASS SCOOPS.

 

Like i said before other than the "Joe Dirt" scoop its not too bad .Anyone that has ever done any real mods to a car ,has proly done things that they wish that hadnt done exactly the way they did.I to have made a few errors with a cutoff wheel and a welder ,but i fixed them afterwards.As far as cutting the coils ,its a snap .I have done it many times and i still have all my fingers and both of my eyeballs.Just watch your self when taking it apart and i would recomend running a chain through it just in case it gets away from you.The car was slick looking the way it was before the mods you made ,but you can fix it ...

the front height was FINE before....get the ass end down, then worry about "cutting coils"....I wouldn't want you taking the grinder to ignition parts without guidance!

and what EXACTLY did YOU do to RAISE that rear end so we can help you undo it, before you go buying blocks and ordering custom U-bolts??????????

I told him to cut the coils, he says he afraid. what more can we do then to critisize him for it. Nobody is telling him how to build his car, only making suggestions on how he can un-fuck it up, but to no avail, he keeps being a fuckin smartass about it.

I read another thread he started about putting 18 inch wheels on his car..yes 18 inch wheels. when people gave him shit for the un-hamb freindly wheels, he started calling people "faggets" and "douchbags" and what not. Thats not the way to treat people on the hamb after you ask a retarded OT question.

im asking if when i cut the coil how bad will the alignment be and will four blocks in the back be too much.. and the axle will hit the underbody .. you can tell me how fucked my car is but in that same post help me understand about lowering my car thats fine with me

I think the window tint has to go, way to dark (no place on a old car)..

drop the rear and add screw on moon disc. maybe find an old parachute to mount on the rear or add a 'T' push bar behind it..

 

I cut the coils ONE coil (2inches) FROM STOCK and it rubbed about as much as you could live with - YOUR "before" pix DONT look stock height......maybe an inch (or more) lower already. Ofcourse, My 250 was a lot heavier than the 170.

Alignment was NO problem!

In the REAR, I used 2 inch blocks (again...FROM STOCK - YOURS looks a good 2-3 inches ABOVE stock!)....it was a sloppy mess and regularly chewed up Unis (inferring a change to the wrong pinion angle for the diff) and the factory offset tailshaft rubbed on the underside of the trans tunnel, right under the back seat, everytime I put bags of cement in the back- I suggest that you take it to a DECENT spring shop and pay them to use the right shackles etc, and re-work your main leaf to get the desired height with an acceptable ride, and probably costing LESS than fucking around with 'non-popular' blocks/u-bolts etc.

and YES, 215 is about the widest tyre that can comfortably fit in the stock rear wheel houses without SIGNIFICANT surgery.
