Im working on a 61 bubbletop and plan to fix it up 60's style. Does anyone have any pictures of rides done this way??
I have a belair, but it needs a lot of work yet. 427/muncie/4.88/slicks-- the plan is to make it a pain to drive around.
Hey Squirrel, that's the first set of Cragar GT mags I've seen in a long time. I had a set on a Camaro in 1968. I like the idea of making that Belair a pain in the ass to drive. I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes pain is good!
I had one in High School back in 66 thru 68. Wish I could get it back. It was a great car. I bought it from a guy in the neighborhood for $90.00. It had quite the history. He was the original owner of it and it at one time or another had been in a number of accidents with it. Nothing real bad, but just enough that every time he got behind the wheel he was looking for what ever was going to hit him next. Well long story short when I found it the left front fender was all mangled and it needed a bumper. It only had 26K on it then and I grabbed it. Drove it for 3 or 4 years then pulled the 283 out and put it in my Dad's 62 Wagon and he drove it for another 5 years or so. I have a real soft spot for 61's since.
I've always been a fan of the early Super Stocker look. Do a google search on Dyno Don Nicholson and take a look at his white '61. I'm trying to buy one myself right now. Great cars and half the price of a '62 bubbletop.
hope these photos turn out... fng posting first time. this car drove me to build pick-ups and hot rods... tooo many frickin' parts.
I checked out the Boulevardos gallery and I really like their style. I like the wide whites with some supremes. I just got the motor and tranny in so I'll post some pics and maybe get some feedback.
I don't have access to my pictures, but Richard Glymph painted a couple beauties! Bright red one, and a blue metallic one. Moriarty had a real nice one, as well, back before the "roth days".
Here is the picture of it so far. Rebuilt 350, nice cam, rebuilt tranny with 2800 stall. I really like your pictures, post some more if you got them.
I got me a '61 bubble, love it dogg!! thinking of wrapping it on spokes or some of them supremes. What color you going for??
Hey reece, looks like we're on the same stage. What color are you going for? As far as the 60's sltyle, I'm thinking supremes, wide whites, lower stance, white tuck and roll, and for paint I think mint green. Onelowlesabre posted a nice red one, just like i want it minus the color and the grille. i like it stock!
I am going back light blue with the white top and white side stripe. I plan on running two skinny Torque-Thrust D's in front and possibly plain(but wide) steel rims in the back-perhaps half white and black on the rear rims. I am shooting for an early to mid 60s super stock look. HOWEVER - I do dig the lowered look with the supremes and wide whites- I even like the panel painted style cars. I saw a few cars in that style when I went out to Cali in the summer of '05. The best part about the '61 is you can take it in a few different directions and it is still cool. Peace out- Reece
the one pictured above is with the tube grill and single headlights is Mark Moriarity's. He's on the HAMB here and it don't get more sixties than that.
Here's the last '61 I had. Sold it 5 or 6 years ago to move on to other projects. It had a 468/400 in it. It's still in the neighborhood and has a 502/502 in it now.
