I haven't posted in a while as shop time is hard to come by this time of the year and since I documented the previous three floor patches, I figured I'd spare everyone the details on the final patch.

As mentioned, the last patch was a real pain in the ass. Cutting, bending, and welding on three of the corners and just as I had it ready to finish the welds, I literally ran out of gas. lol

Hoping I can get my tank filled and finish the floor this week. Merry Christmas to all who have been following.

I took advantage of 60 degree temps here in Ohio and finished painting the large front end parts. Hauled them off to my storage locker to create more room in the shop. It was a welcome break from the floor repair.

I'm back in business with a full tank.

Finished the welding on the floor pans. Here is a before and after.

The miserable parts are the ones nobody ever sees except you. Once you get past all that it’s gravy. Looks good!

Thanks guys! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have the usual trouble spots in the trunk to address and get that painted, then it's finally on to some cool stuff. If I said I wasn't getting burned out from cleaning, painting, and welding sheet metal I'd be lying.

After a few days off for cataract surgery, I got the last floor pan finished. My sheet metal welding skills are slowly improving. No pro job but I'm happy with the penetration on the backside. Got in some practice for the real body work and painting under the car is complete. For a hack job, I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Put’s a whole new meaning to “keep it shiny side up”. :)

The trunk is up next. It has the usual problem areas but nothing terrible. I need to get on that but I'm easily distracted. Latest distraction is a poor man's floor shift steering column. kinda diggin this Duraglas stuff, lol.

I'm diving in. At first glance it doesn't look bad but it's always worse than it looks, lol.

  26. What do the rear body mounts look like? They usually fill up with road crud and rust away right into the trunk.

That's the way my car is. It has a big wad of fiberglass poked in the hole.

Body mounts look great (thankfully). The rust is minimal and limited to the pans. And yes, it's getting new bushings.

Well, another distraction... I was messing with the 63 Belair seat I have for the car. 61-64 seats are supposed to be interchangeable. Turns out 63-64 seat track bolt pattern is 2" longer than 61-62. Thankfully there was enough meat to drill new holes and all is good. Cleaned them up a bit and shot them with Eastwood silver cad.
