    Hey Guys,

My buddy wants to run 1962 Cadillac wheels and hubcaps on his 1960 coupe de ville. The 1962 wheels worked great on the rear of his 1960 Cadillac. But on the front of his 1960 Caddy, the 1962 wheels do not sit flush against the center of the brake drums, around the lug nuts. The 1960 brake drums are not shaped correct to except the 1962 wheels.

My question is: Will 1962-1964??? Cadillac front brake drums and backing plates work on a 1960 Cadillac? Will I have to change the front spindles, steering arms, etc... to be able to run 1962 Caddy wheels?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the drums themselves should be interchangable, the replacement part numbers are the same anyway.

do the 62 hubcaps not work on his 60 rims?

1962 hubcaps will not work on 1960 wheels. The 1962 hubcaps are shaped to deep for the 1960 wheels. I believe 1962-1964 wheels are the same, and will take the 1962 hubcaps.

This should not be a problem. Ive put 58-59 caps on my 62 wheels and I have friends that have similar things. Right now I have 58 Eldorado Wheels on the 62 and no problems. I believe 58-62 should all be interchangeable. Then again, Ive never gone the opposite way so maybe I dunno what Im talking about.

put the 62 wheels on and torq them down and see if they wobble. I had 60 wheels on my 62 and I KNOW the drums are the same because i used the stuff of the 60 tfor my 62 until i found a 69 with discs then I swapped the spndles and had disc brakes then my 62 wasnt so scary to drive and i got chicks.

Arent the 62-64 rims reverse so they can accept the super deep hubcaps on those? I tried to put some of those rims on my 59 and figured out that the reverse being so deep for the hubcaps caused it to hit the drum. Try swapping the drums, I hear they're interchangable, like CooperCruisers said.

The 1962 wheels are reversed, to take the deep dish 1962 hubcaps. Cool, maybe the 1962 drums will swap out on the 1960 brakes & spindles. I will give it a try. Thanks!

OK I must be missing somehting here... The drums are the same but the wheels wont mount to the earlier car? WTF?
Here's the scoop I got from somebody I respect. The later discs will mount these same spindles. You need to make the caliper brackets tho. A couple yrs back I priced everything from NAPA and Adv. and figured the swap to discs at around $650 complete, with factory parts exc. the caliper brakets. I figured when I get to this for my 62 that I can snag the 69-72 spindles(think that's the yrs) outa my local yard and figure on doin balljoints while at it. Should get them fore they're all gone...
