Wondering if an oil pan R&R can be done with engine and trans in place. Also would like to service rear main seal at same time. Anyone with experiance here please let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks!!

    Welcome to the HAMB.

What is a CDV? .... a Crack Delivery Vehicle?

Although I've owned a 62, I never pulled the pan in the chassis. I have however, pulled them in earlier models, same engine class and the trick is to drop the drag link off the passenger side frame rail to gain the clearance. Hope this helps but you should probably invest in a manual.

Oh and once you get the pan off - pull the oil baffle, pull pump, pull main cap, pull rope seal, snake new rope seal, reverse operation. Torque proper.

    That should do it.

My brother and I recently changed the rear seal on his 58 chevy wagon, similar operation...made me remember why we put it off for so long. what a pain.
