1962 gmc problem

    has anyone had a problem with the tortion bar bolt nut spliting even if it was clean and oiled:confused:

    the truck has tortion bars on the front instead of coils while leting the front down alittle bit the nut on the arm bolt broke just wondering if anybody eles had this problem and what the replaced it with. it has a big square nut that cant be found

    I know about the torsion bars on the gmc,if someone twisted the nut with weight on it it may have damaged the nut.Many trucks and cars used this.Is this the lock down nut on the adjuster?

    Have you checked at wrecking yard,Gm still used that for a number of years on trucks,also try McMaster and Carr on line
