Did you see this? http://www.pontiacparadise.com/parts-id/vin.php If it can be believed, sounds like a 2nd VIN is on top of the frame rail, just behind the rearend?
Yeah, I saw there website. We have pulled up the trunk (it was rusty anyways) and have been wore brushing the hell out of it. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I love those big cars. Don't put water in that glass washer fluid bottle if it freezes where you live.. I see a lot of welding in your future. But that is a great car.
That's going to be a beauty. Brings back memories my 1st 62 was the same car. Not everyone can own a Pontiac.
Silly interior question. So I put the seat in from the 63 Star Chief and it bolted in fine. But when I sit in the car my head almost touched the roof and I have almost no leg room. Did Pontiac make a taller seat for a 4dr sedan????? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
A friend of mine thought the same thing. Then again he is a Chevy guy so who knows. As of right now it doesn’t do me much good. Looks like it is a wall hanger for now Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I got my appointment with CHP to have the vin tag inspected but it’s not until mid July. I’m debating on how much I want to do to the car before then. Not to mention it is officially 106 degrees outside! We shall see! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I just read this whole thread and, being a Pontiac man I hope you get your car done the way you want it. I don't have a 63 but I do have a 67 GTO and the partial VIN was on top of the passenger side frame rail behind the rear end.
Thank you for the encouragement! I’m hoping to get things going early next month! I’m hoping hwy patrol doesn’t have any issues with the lack there of vin on the rear of the frame. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thank you! Wanna tell me about your 61 in your avatar? Please do share!!!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Today is happy vin verification day! We passed no problems! Big thank you to the kern county California hwy patrol! Next stop AAA! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
After much mental debate we decided to let the very rusty 62 Pontiac go! Loaded it up and dropped it off at its new owner in the high California desert! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Yes and no. It went to Frank’s Pontiac Parts in 29 palms California. We made a partial trade on another car. Really nice guy who I’ll definitely be doing business with in the future. We’ll be posting pictures of that one once we get home. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

It was sad but I made a command decision. The trunk was gone - literally, The deck lid was rusted through, Both rockers rusted through, Floors rusted Both fenders rusted through in at least 2 places Hood, rusted Rear seat springs rusted and fell apart Rear suspension was bent All the while I figured I could fix it all someday. The final straw was the other day when I closed the door and the skin separated from the inner door and the bottom fell out. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Best to pass on a car with terminal cancer. I looked at a '61 Ford a couple of weeks back, the trunk pan was toast and I feared about what I could not see...
When I would pull on the rear bumper the whole back of the car would flex. The frame had rusted out from sitting on the wet ground. Yeah, I’m at peace with it. I’m happy it went to a Pontiac guy whole will try and salvage every last little part. Something I didn’t have the time to do. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I’m editing the pictures from yesterday. I’ll post them today. It is a 1960 Catalina 2 dr sedan 3 spd on the column. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
"1960 Catalina 2 dr sedan 3 spd" Hmmm. Maybe you are not entirely dead to me... In fact, maybe the new one could have some merit? Post up Son, Redeem yourself! Let's see how you did.
Ha ha ha, it still wasn’t an easy decision. I actually thought about it over a few months. It is hard for me to give up on a car. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
