I have been in desire of this car for some time. I heard it was for sale long ago, but didn't have the time/money to chase it down. It worked out that I could stop on the way to visit Poverty Flats and KKOA.

We had been in communication for many months. We had agreed on the value of the car/trailer/parts/etc. You see, the 70 year old gentleman that built this twenty years ago has a very serious ailment. His racing career is over.:( The car was better than he described. I am proud to own it, but will likely need to sell it. It is a keeper, so who knows. It should hit the track a few times in the next month. Will run low 10's.

I hated to miss KKOA on Saturday, but this was calling......

Dave purpose built this car to run with the Nostalgic Super Stock group. He found it while on vacation in the SE USA in 1988. Was a 44,000 mile six cylinder PG car. It is absolutely gorgeous...at least what is left of the original car. Lots of fiberglass for weight reduction. Today, it has just over 45,000 miles on it.

laid down a 10.61 yesterday. Left front was 3' in the air and carried for better part of 100', so I am told. Really hot/humid, so there is more left. Love the car.

  13. Beautiful score Bob.....a fitting addition to a great collection of cars...Congratulations....Centurion9

  14. Would you keep this car if you sold the Willys or the Orange Olds?

I'd rather dye in a rod than get caught dead in a kustom.

You did good friend. The KKOA will be there again next year but that ride wouldn't.

I will keep this car if I sell my Nova, the 56 BelAir or the 57-210. It is an awesome car. Everytime I hook the straps I have to stop for a second and admire the underside of the car. It is a jewel.

Nice find. The 409 cars are special. Hope you can hold on to it. Sold my 64 dodge I was building for NSS and now I regret it and looking for another to build might sell my 40 to do a NSS car.

During my eleven year tenure as the announcer at U.S. 36 Raceway at Osborn, Mo. I had the pleasure of seeing Dave and Faded Memories twice a year. It's an awesome car and Dave is as fine an individual as you'll ever meet. To be honest all the guys and gals with the Nostalgia Super Stock group Dave ran with are wonderful people and they put on a great show. I believe they're supposed to be at Osborn this Saturday (September 12th) to celebrate the tracks Twentieth Anniversary. It's right up the road from Dave's home so I bet he'll be there.

you said a mouthful. Dave is a peach of a guy. He was very helpful in guiding me to operate Faded Memories to its fullest capacity. The group is awesome and very friendly. They really enjoy the time together. They made me feel welcome. It is super fun to participate in the show. They pair the cars so they run within a tenth of each other. That makes for fun racing and a great show for the fans.

I was very surprised on Saturday when Dave showed up in our pit. He had driven nine hours to watch me race the car he built. I begged him to run the car for me, as I had six others there to tend to and two others to drive. He couldn't do it. I was disappointed, but understood. So his presence, while a GREAT honor, put a bit more pressure on me. During my first race of the event (only my fourth pass in the car), I was late at the lights and couldn't run my competitor down. Dave was waiting for me at the timing shed and had both his thumbs up. From that race on, I was not beaten. Dave stayed for the day and met me at the booth after each pass. All the NSS racers and myself were pleased to have Dave in attendance.
