I have the 1963****embly manual but am having trouble determining where exactly to weld the z bar bracket. Does anyone have a good drawing showing measurements of where to weld this bracket? I have seen suggestions to insert a threaded rod into the ball stud hole but that size rod is larger than the slot in the bracket and does not help line it up. Any input would be much appreciated.

What I did years ago was to install the ball joint in the block, then position the z bracket so that the bracket was lined up the best it could be. Made sure that the bracket was perpendicular to the block and level. I simply bolted a bracket onto the frame after that.

  3. That's the way I'd do it, but its not easy to do with the engine in the way and its even harder to do without the engine in :)

Why not turn (or grind) the rod down until it fits into the slot?

Even if not, the rod will locate and plot the centers for the bracket. Some room for error exists in that Zbar anyway.
