Found this today while at a local antique shop. Thought it was pretty cool. It's an award of Excellence from the 1963 Seattle National Custom Auto Fair. Don't know much about PNW events of that long ago being a recent transplant from Michigan. Did a Google search and there was coverage in the October 1963 issue of Hot Rod magazine, but wouldn't you know it is one of the few issues missing from my collection. Anyone know of this event form 63? What or who's car was it aw 1963 seattle NCAF 2.jpg arded to?

Very very cool, I've never seen another one. Good find, try to find an event program.

Let's see, 1963 would have put me in 7th grade, and way before I developed this illness of all things automotive. I was also in home room for the announcement of JFK's****assination, and walking on my way to school for the big earthquake that year. I came in with the "Clark Marshall" shows of the late 60's/70's. What "local antique shop"? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Found it in M&M antiques in Monroe. I also found my Oct 63 Hot Rod with the event in it. 4 pages of coverage. There is a small picture of Moriarity's Chevy along with the owner receiving the big trophy. The same issue also has a 2 page article on a NHRA divisional race in Arlington, Wa. I wonder if these small plaques like the one I got were given to all participants.

Where was the car from originally? Was it a local car to Washington?

the reason i asked was the car in my aviator that my buddy has owned for 35+ years was displayed and awarded a couple trophies at the Seattle worlds fair. It was built by Earl Ipsen a milkman from Stanwood Washington. Cool thing is i have been in contact with the grandson and heard some great stories!

CG, there is M&M and also one in an old church in Monroe. M&M is across from NAPA. The church is down the side street that is next to NAPA. The best place is Maltby Antiques in Maltby. Open only Thursday thru Sun, the guy is great to deal with, very reasonable and always getting new stuff in. He has some car stuff. It's hit or miss at any of them, I've picked up old body hammers and other misc stuff.

I stopped at M&M today and looked around. I found 11 of those old state travel decals still in the little wrappers ... five bucks for all of em.

I went to the 62 Worlds Fair show with my dad and was 15 years old but missed the 62 show because I had moved back over here to the Valley.

their is pictures in my albums! Somewhere i have picture of Earl Ipson cutting top off with hammer and chisel! I will go visit my buddy and take some pictures. most folks think it's a european car because it sure doesn't look anything like a 1950 lincoln.
