Found this engine for sale...$800...Was told it came out of a 63 Vette...Needs intake and oil pan...Would do nicely in my 57 210...Worth it or not?

  6. the block is NOT from a `63 Corvette ....

Are there any other marks or distinguishing features that would help identify it better?

  9. that block was used in about one zillion cars/trucks.....but not in 1963 .

larry t posted the applications. while you may get excited about the Z-28 , most are the 69-80 350

what is it worth? that depends on what it condition it is

those heads are kinda cool , and at one time where very sought after, many still do

Cool...I'm thinking this might still be a good option for the Chevy...Also, the guy said the engine was pushing about 300 horse...when it was complete obviously...

That's a lot of money for a fairly universal sbc. You will spend that on a quality rebuild, so it will run $2000 to finish out properly. Just a thought.

  12. hard to say what it is really worth. if it runs good and puts out the power you want...i say go for it

i just have a problem with sbc's that "ran good when pulled" ...if it was so good why was it pulled out? i'm not saying it's not a good motor....i guess i'm just skeptical . i've been burnt too many times. have you heard this motor run? drove the car it was in?

to me , used engines are just like used transmissions ...unless i have run the motor and drove the car it's in..and then pulled it myself...i consider them all cores for rebuilding

Sorry, I made a mistake ...it's stated that there is only 40000 original miles, and that it is pushing 350 horse, not 300...

Apparently it was pulled to be replaced with a crate engine, and "no" I haven't seen it or driven it...I know it's risky, but sometimes good things happen right? I'm thinking that I will offer the dude 1/2 of what he's asking? Worth a try I guess..

You have a generic block..maybe 2 bolt truck or 4 bolt 302. No intake no pan..any claim of HP is as good as the claim that it's a "63 Vette" engine...
If it's been without a intake or pan..the block newer than the heads..it appears to be rebuilt and I'd guess the 40K miles deal is suspect also...like the 63 Vette stuff.
Look around..for what you'd put into this..and not know the real story..you could get quite a nice mill...
    But..not a "63 Vette..350HP..no intake and pan"

you should have some letters on the front p***enger side flat area, where head and block match up. unless block has been decked alot. if you can post those letters i can give you better idea, what you got and what its out of. there are usually two or three letters. hope i can help.
