Mike, I looked through the whole series again and probably missed it but what does your car weigh? You have done an excellent job with your Falcon, maybe I can get to see it in person if you ever make an "eastern swing" as they used to say in the match race days!

My car weighs 2850 with the fiberglass hood, fenders, front bumper and bumper brackets. I need to do what Roy did and hollow out my doors, that would save a lot of weight. I also have a full interior and my seats are like 35-40 pounds each with all the bracketry needed to adapt dodge seats to the falcon. With roll cage , subframe connectors it adds a lot of weight too.

On a side note I am going for 4 hours of Dyno tuning to get the injection figured out on July 1st, which I am excited about

Thanks Mike, I am about to begin a '65 Comet sedan and wanted a ball park figure to shoot for when talking with cam manufacturers as the always want everything about the car. Mine will be all steel for now and will only have one aluminum racing seat for an interior.

Yo Mike, how's the Falcon running? I had the valve covers & the ram tubes painted to match the body color. I have to get smaller nozzles, I have 16A's, I need 10's or 12's. I also need new hoses, then it's ready to go in the car. I'm getting really close!

I'll let Mike tell the full story, but we all learned a few things and confirmed a few things during the time there! Mike was given a new plan of attack on the injection system,he should know more next week! ROY.

The injection system is at hilborn getting reflowed , barrel valve adjusted and nozzles changed to straight ones instead of 90 degree ones so the can be serviced. With the way they are now, being 90 degrees, I can Only remove them if I removed the manifold because they hit the head. So straight nozzles should fix this.

It ran like crap on the Dyno, didn't even make a pull. Fouled plugs and one cylinder wasn't firing. I couldn't get the manifold ripped off fast enough sent back to hilborn I was so mad! Oh well hopefully they will get it figured out. I hope your hilborn experience goes smoother, it should since yours was already set up for injection.

Roy, I'm waiting on Hilborn too, I ordered new lines & pills on Friday, and I hope to have them by the weekend. Also, I have to notch the flange on the oil pan to clear the starter. I've been tinkering on the 60 I bought, so I can take it to raceway park this weekend.

STILL waiting on hilborn, the last three weeks I call I have been told "it should be done this week." I called on Wednesday, was told it should be done Friday, which came and went. Pretty frustrating.. The 4 times I have called, I have increasingly expressed my need to get it back in time to make some test runs before Octobers race at the HotRod reunion, I feel like they don't want to work on it or something, it's really weird. I have read alot about how great their customer service is etc.... To bad I haven't had that experience... I am pretty compulsive and feel like telling them to just ship it back to me and I send it somewhere else, but I will wait a few more weeks before I let my temper get the best of me!.

Wise move ... don't want to step on your tongue as they are the ones that manufactured the unit ... they may know the most about it. I too am short on patients whan it comes to my fairlane but sometimes the wait is worth it.

    Keep us posted.

    Holy Hell Mike!!!!!!!
They gang raped your wallet on that one!
Bet it's gonna be worth every last penny first time you pound that pedal to the floor at the track and it runs perfect though!
Can't wait to hear how the next trip to the track goes!

My dad had one of these cars back in the early 70s. I think he started building it around '70. I remember the day he sold it in '76. Took the money and bought a '69 Corvette - 350/4-speed convertible. I remember he paid $3500 for it.

Still waiting on Hilborn. They have not called and asked for my CC number yet, so I am assuming they are not done with the rebuild.. I wish I had a better update!! But here is a cool picture from Facebook that keeps me motivated! ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1375988376.000717.jpg

Next time I visit my folks I really need to dig up all my dad's old motorhead pics. He has lots of pics of his Falcon and pics of the engine build, etc. He also has lots of other great pictures of street racing from the 60s. One of his best friends was a photographer and went on to make a good living as one. He was constantly taking pictures of their antics back in those days. I need to get all of those pictures and scan them.
