    Mike
As always great detail work, I can tell you buy into the "less is more" approach.
Saw the car run at the CHRR with small block power, I bet it will be an eye opener first time out with the big block.

Not really a curve when you have 500ft lbs at 3000 RPM lol!

Is 30 degrees of timing all it would take or is that just a number to fill in the blank?

We ended up setting it at 32, if I want to put better gas in it and go to 36, it would probably go over 600hp. Gives me room to grow!

    That sounds good.
I am real deep into a 468 inch FE, new experiences for me. Thought maybe they were pron the detonate and that had something to do with the low timing.

Nope not easy to detonate LOL. My FE guru Ed Prouty kept after me to bump it up 2 degrees make a run and check the time on my Super Cobrajet that started off at 38 all in and don't bother looking at a timing light.

Well needless to say I was a bit leery but he did hold several national NHRA records so I kept at it. Bump 2 degrees check the ET and MPH. It took a few weekends to get that many runs accomplished but finally ET and speed dropped off a bit. He asked any detonation and how do the plugs look? Plugs looked fine and no signs of detonation.

He said if you want to throw a light on it do it now.......... I was shocked to find it ran BEST at 52 all in mechanical and vacuum. Ran it like that for the rest of the time I had the car and never a detonation problem but it was on Sunoco 260 leaded fuel that was everywhere back in the day.
