That's correct Farna, it was the later power steering arm.

  2. I hate this Post! My Mom bought a new 1964 990 Amb***ador 2 door hardtop Black with red interior. bucket seats center console. 327 4 barrel floor shift. one of the best looking 64 cars built
My problem is my wife inherited a 1965 660 four door six cylinder automatic. 71,000 miles runs like a top. no power steering or brakes, interior is like new but the body is in need of paint. and I just don't need to get that deep in another project. You are justly proud and did a great job. I wish I had a better starting poing

So just get a cheap Maaco paint job on it and drive it! Would still make a great cruiser. The 232 six is adequate power for the beast. Won't win any stoplight races, but it won't be too bad either.

  4. I went to Maaco for their $249 special and it would only cost $670. lol

Well, for $249 all they do is wash it down with fine wet/dry sandpaper to scuff it a bit then spray it. No body prep at all. I always did 90% of the prep before I took a car (have used one or another "economy" sprayers four times over 30 something years). Removed everything that would come off easily and didn't need paint, did initial body work (what I could), and gave it a good sanding (once w/120 wet/dry and once with about 600 wet/dry). Wasn't much for them to do! It still usually cost a bit more due to some tweaking they had to do, though once they did it and didn't charge me extra (very little touch-up on a couple spots I'd worked out), and another only charged me about half the normal charge (a good bit for them on that one!). They liked the fact that I did so much work first, and the old car (all times Ramblers!) would look cool for a few days in front of the shop. I was asked to leave the one they "undercharged" me for body work for a week in return -- to show off and draw a few customers.
