The GM Nomad with the Vette front end, and any one of the Grand Sport Corvettes.

How about 1963 Grand Sport Corvette. Maybe a 1963 Z-11 Impala to go along with it.

I love the Graffiti 55 150 sedan. But other than that I really like 57 hardtops and nomads.

59 Impala- 2dr hardtop Roman Red ...348 tri-power 4speed Pops old street car and favorite car of all time, one of the few Chevy's Grandpa had too, though he hated it and that made pop like it more.

60 Ventura-2dr hardtop Skymist Blue - white top... 389 tri-power 4speed (mine was a Hydro) I wasn't allowed to have a Ford and got into Pontiacs for something other than a bellybutton Chevy while actually looking for a 59 Impala, finally got my license at 19 in it too.

58 Bonneville- 2dr hardtop 370 tri-power slush box Black with tri-tone blue guts, never had one but have came close several times. Probably the next GM product I'd pick up given the chance.

56 Star Chief convertible, Light-dark green two tone car

61 Ventura 2dr hardtop light weight SD car, black with red guts. 421 bathtub, 4speed car. I'm really dreaming on this one.

60 Dynamic 88 4dr hardtop, had one I had alot of fun in:) Its GM's Edsel in my opinion, really ugly but people still like them. A wagon would be really cool too.

62 F-85 something a little different saw a stock looking one once with a full house 3.8 turbo motor in it, which being based off the same V-6 that came in it was cool. A Hilborn 215 would be slick too.

Really any model from 59-60 would work for me, but there are just so many good cars to pick from with 65 back time line.

1965 GTO made a cool looking A/FX race car ie. Brutus. 1956 Nomad looks good no matter how you build it. 1965 Comet another good looking A/FX car. 1965 Coronet the Mr. Norm funny car was off the hook!!!!

  18. '58, 59, 60 Impala.
    Just because they're so cool!
And all caddys up to '62. the fins get too small!

Chevy II - Small simple car
49-51 Chevy- Got rid of the long fenders that went back onto the doors.

Boy I like the '64 and '65 GM A-bodies. The first and foremost cars ever attached to my memory forever (I got them in the old car gene I received at birth). No offense, but the '64 and '65 Chevelle actually doesn't get the list. I respect 'em, but I explain why the cars I love are my favorites here: http://theoldcar.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Here is some of my wannabees...

I love GM stuff. I really dig the '62 full size cars like GP's, 88's and Impalas. And a '59 El Camino would be another awesome car. I like '60 Venturas, '61 Impalas...

  23. I'm partial to Rivieras, 1963-1965, Second generation Corvairs, Corvette coupes, 59-60 El Caminos and Brookwoods, Parklanes, Nomads, early sixties 2-door Caddies, shall I keep going? Oh, and Suburbans, too.

  25. Since we are on '65-earlier GM vehicles, I'd submit the following:

    1) 1964 Impala. Of the '61-'64 cars, this was the most refined in design and performance. I'll take a white ragtop with red interior and top, please, and a 409.

    2) 1959 Impala. Of the "batcars", this had the best taillights and grille. The best of the finned GM cars, period. Make mine a bronze and white hardtop with bronze interior, 348 4-speed and air.

    3) 1962 Pontiac Gran Prix. 389 Tri-Power, 4-speed, black with black/white interior. Gotta have the 8-lug wheels, too! Beautiful cars!

    4) I'd need something to haul stuff around in, so a 1965 Chevy Suburban with the liftgate/tailgate combo would work just fine. A 283, 4-speed, 4x4, with air and AM radio. Turquoise and white.

    5) 1956 Pontiac Safari wagon, in Coral and Ivory. This one, I'd make a hot rod, with a 455 SD engine, five-speed manual, and a set of Torq-Thrusts, to start things out!

    6) 1955 Chevy Cameo pickup. Mine would have a 283, Dual-Range Hydromatic, and I'd add air and every other option available in the day. Red and white, of course!

    7) 1948 Chevy Aerosedan. Black with grey interior. Bone stock, except mine would have an overdrive to allow driving over 60 mph without blowing up the 216 babbit engine all to hell! Probably THE best-looking GM car ever built!

    8) 1932 Cadillac Phaeton with a body by LeBaron, in dark maroon, cream and light grey, with a red leather interior. Dual side mounts, golf bag compartment, and fold-out bar. Got to have that beautiful V-12, too! A magnificent car that rivalled the Duesies, the big Chryslers and the Lincolns of the day.

    9) 1964 Buick Riviera. My neighbor had one when I was a little kid. I have always loved the '63-'75 Rivs, but the '64 stands out for me. I'd have one in triple black with leather, loaded, naturally!

    10) Last one. I'd have to go for a BIG road car that could do highway speeds all day long and drive like you were on a cloud. For that, I'd have a 1961 Cadillac Coupe deVille, in silver with the light grey leather interior, with every single Caddy option available in '61. The '61 cars were far more refined than the crazy '59 and '60 cars, they still had the fins, and they were simply a better-looking car, overall.

There are my "if money were no object and I had a Jay Leno-size garage and income" GM picks.

  26. Y' all are the best !!
Thanks for the lists... Its a real walk down memory lane for some of us, fantasy lane for others and the hallway to the garage for the rest.

    I personally love
    61 chevies (year I was born) had a B-Top, own a Brookwood
    33 - 4 chevies
    59-62:
Buicks, Olds, Pontiacs, Cads all but the more door sedans
    57 Olds 2 or 4 door
    tri 5 chevies
    64-65 Riv
    49-52 Chevies
late fortys fat fender Chevs, Olds and Ponchos
    53-54 Bel Airs
    And more ......

Keep 'em coming - there is real value in all this.
I will tell you more about why in a day or so :)

    Thanks again.

I know this is a pretty old thread but I liked the subject. I just love the shape and simpleness of the 57' Corvette and also the 63' split windows....and yeah, the copper ones mine ! In the second pic, the arctic blue 57 is owned by a buddy of mine...and he's the ORIGINAL OWNER !!!
