I got a 66 327 in my coupe. Im running a ac spark plug #45. Not real happy with them. Seems like I have a lazy one in the bunch. Any advice on a different plug? thanks
Could be a bad plug wire also... You might want to check it out..... If not, then switch over too what VooDoo is running...
I have a 1963 300 HP 327 in my Deuce pickup and use AC 45S plugs,,no problems at all. I also have a flamethrower coil. HRP
dont know if they still make them ac used to make a c45 plug.the c prefix indicated a commercial plug. they worked well for me.
thanks for the input. ill hunt down the lazy one and swap it out and see what i get. Ive always ran ac plugs and they always worked good too. maybe im just getting lazy!!
Make sure you dont have a crack in the rotor cap on that cylinder, carbon build up on the crack will try to fire two cylinders at once.
only by what's stamped on the block.... Everything else is the same.... But I'm sure you knew that...
Swap cylinders with the "lazy" plug with a known good plug, that will narrow down if it's the plug, plug wire, bad cyl., cap, etc.
Did you pull the plug yet? SBC's are renown for leaking guides, and they'll foul a plug in a hundred miles.
For all the na-sayers of those that say they have a 327 out of a corvette.... I don't know about you....but so so many vettes for sale say in the ad....NON-MATCHING ENGINE NUMBER CAR. Now just where do you think those engines went to.....327 Vette heaven? When the very few on here say they have a SBC out of a vette....it just might be the truth....I know my engine number matches the VIN number but so many do not....watch even Barrett-Jackson and Me*** and see how many of those vettes don't have a matching number....those engines went somewhere.... And a ford is the only car I have ever had to use anti-fowlers on...
Got a mid '60's vette motor in a ral SS 1969 Camaro. Heads one year, block another. And the intake is a 1966 HIPO Nova unit. They out there, chuckles.
Yea right! There have been many numbers re-stamped and the bulk of it has been done to plastic Chevies. Reality TV... Now there's a litmus test. Yea, every Hot Rod, Camaro and Chevelle ever built! You must live a sheltered life wearing those rose colored gl***es. Fact: According to sellers of Chevy powered cars, there are more vette engines out there than vettes made. Fact: GM traditionally has had the worst valve seals and valve guides of any manufacturer making it more likely to use anti-foulers.
I REALLY DO have a Corvette 327 engine. I helped remove it from my buddy's '64 vette. It might not have been ORIGINALLY in a Corvette, but I can honestly say it's out of a vette !
I know that my 327/300 hp came out of a 63 Impala SS & I use NGK plugs with No Problem for the last 25 years just my 3.5 cents
Back in the day we looked for a few clues if someone claimed the engine came out of a Vette. The oil pan could be a different shape, side motor mount holes not used with paint still on the bosses and threads.. Early Vettes used a front motor mount sandwiched between the water pump and block. Vette motor used Morane 500 rod and main bearings.[stamped on the bearing backside] The rest used morane 400 bearings. Trucks also used morane 500 bearings but the block would be painted gray. There were also many other small differences. Some of you old timmers are saying "O that's right, I remember that."
