My wife recently purchased a 1966 Ford Custom 500.
It's a great driving car with a 289 V8 and an automatic. We enjoyed driving it a lot this summer, but as winter is approaching we are starting to look at some of the minor maintenance/upgrade items that it requires.

I am having trouble identifying sources for replacement parts for this car.
If I want parts for a '67 Firebird, '40 Ford Pickup or such it is easy to find and order anything you want online. It is definitely not as easy to search online for parts as other vehicles I have worked on.

I believe this car is most similar to the Galaxie, but sometimes I wonder if the Fairlane doesn't look closer. It is possible to find Galaxie (and Fairlane) parts online, but from the images of those parts it appears that not everything is the same. Some things shown are definitely not the same as what is on our Custom 500.

We know the bulk of the history of the car, and as it sits today it is mostly original as far as we know.
Can anyone offer suggestions for locating the proper parts for this? Either replacements for the originals OR bolt in replacements for upgrades.

Examples of things we are looking for:
    Interior dome light
    Rear Brake parts
    Window seals for the doors
    Windshield washer pump
Options for a shorter radio antenna?
Options to upgrade the radio? It is currently AM only and built into the dash.

But, overall just figuring out any good sources for general parts for the car would be nice.

    Your assistance is appreciated.

The bas model full size Ford was the Custom in 1966. The Custom 500 was a ste up in trim level, ie carpeting and more ornamental chrome and stainless trim, followed by the Galaxie 500, CL, LTD, and 7liter.

they were all essentially the same
Body on frame full sized car, either
The same wheelbase, 15” rims, etc.

The Fairlane was a smaller, shorter unibody car that shared the 289 and transmission with the full sized Ford, bun not much else.

Excet for chrome and fabrics, you’re pretty safe ordering parts for a 66 Galaxie with the same power train as your Custom 500.

I am aware of these sources and use them for other vehicles.
The issue I have is the images they show for Galaxie parts do not look like my car OR they simply don't have the parts I am looking for.

luckily I never needed any of the custom500 specific parts, which from what I could tell were just a few trim parts and perhaps the taillights and trunk lid?

95% of the rest of the car is the same as a Galaxie.

As far as your parts list goes, the rear brakes are the same on most the galaxies Rock Auto should stock what you need. The aerial and radio stuff you need to look after market, there are Bluetooth conversion companies etc, washer pump I’m sure any 12v one could work take a walk around your local wreckers.

The Dome light lense is a tricky one, mine was pretty much turned to dust but it didn’t work any ways so I didn’t bother fixing it. Maybe you could find someone to 3D print one for you?

Trunk lid is common across body trim levels in 65, just like 66 is common across 66 trim levels

Occasionally trunk lids are different lengths with different body styles, ie I suspect the 68 fastback would be different than the sedan and probably the formal roof hardtop, but that applies to all manufacturers.

part numbers cost money, so manufacturers tend to commonize unless styling dictates otherwise, ie lower roof lines on 2 door hardtops.

Maybe I am searching using the wrong terms.
Can anyone find me a place to order the weather stripping that the windows move up and down through in the doors?
