looking for the right brake shoes or lining for the rear, there 2 1/4" W and 12 1/8" L, went to all the local over the counter no-nothings. There book tells them that theres no such thing and give me the wrong ones and there the same length, (front to back) theres no short side and long side in there book. any help out there for the right ones from aftermarket...

  2. Tried looking it up as a Monterey or whatever Merc called that body series those years? Rear is a 9-inch, I'm sure brake shoes are out there someplace. What's Rock Auto say about it?

its the marauder 428, but no other badging on her other than S-55, and my old tech manuals only have it down as a s-55, it does have a 9in, but with some big brakes on the back, im wondering if Linc. ran big brakes the same year?

  4. Out of curiosity I went to Rock Auto for you. 4 engines listed for the 1966 s-55 and there were no brake shoes for any of them' Your best choice is to find a rebuilder to reline your OEM shoe hardware.

Most any decent size city has a place that'll feline your shoes. In fact, get Kevlar linings and you'll never look back or even THINK of going to discs.

These days they tend to do most of their business with 18 wheelers, oftentimes truck stops know who to call.

Try looking up brakes for station wagons, in many cases they were sized wider etc.

I had them look up shoes for a 66 parklane when I had my S-55. rockauto part # is
    GUARDIAN / ONE SOURCE Part # S263R.

    Sorry. Thats the part # for the 11 1/32 x 2 1/4.

Try these part numbers. They are 12 1/8 x 2

    RAYBESTOS Part #33APG

    WAGNER Part #PAB33DR

Brakes are brakes. Just measure them and go to your local NAPA store. If they have anyone worth a crap for a counterman he will find what you want.

As some have already said a GOOD parts man {i.e. gray hair} can find em' in a book. Went to all the discount places looking for shoes on a drag car. Didn't really even know what the backing plates were off of originaly. A guy at my Carquest store had a book with drawings of shoes in it. Had them in stock:D.Ended up being 66 Chevy II backing plates and bearing ends on a Dana 60!

  13. Got a 1966 S-55 parts car in my yard if you need anything. Missing the seats and console.
Cant have the 428 though, I'm keeping that...
