I was wondering if anyone had a picture of a 1968 9inch. it can be loose or in the frame. I am also wondering on how it was mounted in the orginal truck. Also, I know this is a bit of a newbie question (and I am) but does it matter if the leaf springs are installed at the top of the housing or the bottom. Thanks, all
what are you looking for? they are 61-1/4 wide, have a 5.5 bolt pattern and should have a 3" wide drum. i put them in mercs pretty often. it doesnt matter if you flip the pearches either.
Your profile says that you have a early F-1 pickup. A 68 F-100 9 inch is a almost direct bolt it ( I have done it numerous times ). If you install the 9 inch the way the original F-1 is ... the rear end sits under the springs. If you decide to remove the original pads off the 68 9 inch and install it like in a car ... the rear end will be on top of the springs and the rear will sit about 6 or so inches lower. You can keep your original F-1 rims ... and the rear end width is almost perfect. A very easy and often done upgrade
Well, I installed one in the frame for the 1950 ford f1 but it didn't look right. It looked crazy high compared to the lowered jag front I put on. When I look at switching the spring mounts on the bottom it looks crazy low in the back..
Thanks I thought I had got the wrong one, but you have confirmed it for me that the mounts are on the top
Thanks, You even have a picture of my next step, which is a 1965 mustang gas tank in the back..Is the hose coming off the tank the vent?
