Kurt, I take the route that goes through Vegas then cut's over through Ely Nev. It's a pretty cool drive, lost of little towns. I don't know about propne though. You might want to take the Salt lake route. It's damn boring though.
How much range do you have? The shot up 93/318/6/93 has some pretty long stretches with exactly nothing on it. If you can go a hundred and fifty without refueling, you should be able to hack it, but I would call ahead to confirm propane availability. Pretty sure you can get some in Alamo and Ely, but maybe not 24/7; some probably available in Lund, but wouldn't go without a chat on the phone beforehand.
Don't take the 14-395-6-93 route. There's nothing between Bishop and Tonopah and Ely(except for BOMB test sites). Did it once, not planning on doing it again. I take 15-93-318-6-93. A couple of towns are over 100 miles apart, but other than that it's not too bad. I gas up in Barstow, Vegas, Ash Springs and Ely before reaching Wendover. Only places in question regarding Propane may be Ash Springs and Ely, but I bet if you do your homework you'll find out. I wouldn't go 15 all the way to SLC and then over to Wendover unless I absolutely had to. It's too far out of the way. Hope this info helps Tom
hit 80 in reno. come thru winnemucca, see your avatar. head to bville on 80 or go to ely from here and then bville.
Kurt, I took some tanks off a propane van a few weeks ago. They were full. If you can use them, you can have them. Its 2 together.
