An 1988 Jag xj6s rear end has outboard disc brakes and is a lot heavier than the earlier series Jag like from 1967 up to 1987 with inboard disc brakes but some xjs coupes still had inboard disc brakes. If you use the search you will even find the different widths and how to articles on here. The 88 and newer jags use heavy stamped steel A arms where the earlier used an independent carrier and smaller arms. 1988 also used an pneumatic hydraulic leveling system that has been known to make people Go Crazy, but you can make anything work it just depends on how hard you want to make it fit. Easy= one with inboard disc brakes hard=one with outboard disc brakes.
