Okay, so, I recently bought a 1967 350 small block that the previous owner pulled out of a rusted out and wrecked 1967 Impala.

As I found out from the casting number, the engine was originally out of a 1967 Camaro SS. So, someone must have bought the engine and put it into the Impala.

    It's a first year 350!

Well, now that it's mine, here's what I've done.

I've rebuilt two camel hump heads, drilled and threaded them for the OEM 1993 alternator and AC compressor brackets.

I've put the engine back together with a dual-quad Offenhäuser intake manifold.

Installed adapters to use two Stromberg WW 3-273A carburetors.

Still waiting for said carburetors to arrive so that I can rebuild them as well.

I've also rebuilt the Muncie M-22 that was bolted to the engine but, until I can get every single part to do a proper auto to manual conversion, including a tilt wheel 1993 GM Saginaw steering column out of a manual truck, I'm not even entertaining the idea.

I've painted the block pearl wine red and brass plated all stamped steel parts. (Valve covers, oil pan, transmission pan, timing cover, etc.)

I made the pulleys out of solid brass and put an extreme friction resistant clear coat on them.

Every non-contact brass surface is mirror polished. brass is heavier than steel, sure but, I don't care.

The cast iron quad exhaust manifolds are coated in white graphite and ceramic based exhaust manifold paint. (The actual binder gets burned away by heat and the paint is cured by said heat.

I know the dimensions of every single Stromberg carburetor I've held in my hands and I've already got the oval intake filter housing made.

(Do not come at me with Edelbrock trash because Edelbrock is trash. So is TBI, port and direct EFI.)

The intake manifold matches the engine, whereas the 2 barrel adapters are solid mirror polished brass.

Oh, sidenote... The top of each piston is mirror polished, as is each combustion chamber, intake port and exhaust port.

The internal surfaces of each exhaust manifold are mirror polished.

The internal surfaces of the intake manifold are mirror polished.

    My name's Daniel.

    I own Retro-Werx 74 and I build retro-mods under the RW74 logo.

1974 is the newest engine and, or transmission that I will ever install into any vehicle.

Was there a question there?....or did I misunderstand it in the title that you're putting this in a '93 1/2 ton, or is it going in a Lexus according to your poll?....mirror polished piston tops have gotta add at least 30 or 40 hp.

    What is happening here?
You have a title asking about a 90's truck?
You have a poll asking about a Lexus?
A thread listing the aesthetic finishes of a 'refurbished' late sixties SBC?
A random unprovoked rant about Edelbrock?
and a weird claim about photographic knowledge of Stromberg part dimensions?

What are you looking for from a forum dedicated to vehicles Pre 1965?

The Lexus is a side thought.

    I'm putting the 1967 350 into the 1993.

As for mirror polishing the pistons, I don't think that it adds horsepower but it will reduce the potential for carbon build up.

Sorry, if I could upload pictures anymore, I'd have done so. Trust me, I'd like nothing more than to show it off but, I just got rid of my smartphone and am using a desktop.

I'm not looking, or asking, for anything, really.

    The poll is for fun.
The late 60's small block is going into said truck.
The rant is legitimate because Edelbrock is nowhere near as easy to adjust as a Stromberg, nevermind Weber. Swapping Edelbrock jets? Forget it. You might as well have a rebuilt Rochester by that point.

maybe we could all send you our parts, and you could polish them for us, since you seem to enjoy it so much :)

I post pictures all the time using my desktop computer, I have been for decades, using many different digital cameras and scanners. I guess it can be challenging if you don't want to learn how to do it.

Isn't an LSX newer than 1974?

Kinda thinking the same thing....like AI or some such shit I don't fully understand. Lots of ranting with random car related words just chucked out there. It's a strange world we live in.

Like it says "I would have said no, but family."

Meaning that a family member asked me to do it.

    That's ridiculous...

There's a difference between trying to cut down on rough surfaces for carbon to adhere to and the stupidity of painting pistons...

You're right, a digital camera is not anything that I am interested in buying and, frankly, I doubt that I'd get anywhere running Linux Bash, anyway.

  21. Of course that’s ridiculous. I wasn’t serious at all.

Nope. The poll was an added afterthought since my cousin called me, while I was making this post, and asked me to bore out the LSX 454 that he bought and stuff it into his Lexus LS460 so that he'd have a Lexus LS460 that would be powered by an LS 460 engine.

He also wants me to install a distributor kit and a carburetor intake manifold onto the LSX engine.

After calling him a dumb ass for waisting over $15,000 on an engine, I told him that I'd think about it and put the poll in.

Dude. You are hard to understand. My question was: is the pickup truck you are talking about a Chevrolet SS454 that was produced by the factory in that configuration? Nothing about your poll, or Lexus.

    Oh! I see.

No, it is not an SS454.

    It's a C1500 Silverado extended cab with a 350 and 4L60e.

I plan on dropping a 350 rebuilt with camel hump heads and dual 3-273 WW Stromberg carburetors and a TF727 three speed automatic into it with a 2:56 ratio GM 8.5 rear axle.

Where she's red, I'll be mixing 50/50 Pearl Ruby Red and illusion cherry. Where she's silver, I'll be laminating in genuine walnut veneer.

I'm also building a walnut camper shell.
