Hi guys....my name is Dave and I am from New Jersey. Love the Journal & H.A.M.B. I have a 34 3 window which I bought for a ham sandwich in 1987 and finally got on the road in 2009. Nothing special: 41 flatty along with 34 running gear and 39 juice brakes. I am really into old style no frills hotrods and really enjoy the tech threads.

I would like to do something to add a little bit to my top end to make highway driving a little more enjoyable. Considered the T5 open driveshaft thing and switching the old banjo but I really like the old look. From what I've read, I'm probably running 411 gears. I'm not looking for a miracle---just a bit more top end. I was thinking of a later year banjo with a lower gear. Any suggestions for relatively cheap fix-----seems the only replacement gears I can find for the 34 are over 800 bucks. Thanks,
    Dave

Welcome. Yeah my 34 Ford pickup has the same issue gears to low for the highway.
    I like 40MPH anyway.

Welcome from CA. There are lot of threads on this dilemma. I myself am going o try swapping the ring and pinion for something like 3.73 and see. It too would like to tweak stock if possible rather than completely re-engineering. Keep us posted. Beautiful car you have - enjoy! - D
