Heads up, Hwy. 287 between Amarillo and Wichita Falls is just one big speed trap.[IMG]

Especially Estelline, TX....... Watch for this billboard on the left as you pass through at 55 mph.

Thx for the heads up Kev. We're stopping in Lubbock for the night.

You going bring one of your other toys since the Caddy is in paint jail?

LOL! Just be thankful you weren't a few days earlier or you might've gotten hailed on.

Be safe on the road today. Can't wait to check out the car this weekend...

Kinda jealous and sure wishing ya'll would add a couple more shots of the old girl. Brings back good memories of interstate trips I took listening to a few different 235's purr away. Had 3 different '61 Chevys back in the '80's as a pup, 2 of 'em with a 235 and 3speed. As for the vibration... I'm positive somebody checked the carrier bearing, right? Had one go bad from years of engine oil and what-not coupled with heat and age. Acted just like what you are describing... no shaking until freeway speeds are attempted! 2-piece driveshaft was a bit of a bitch to rebuild when I was 17.. my old man thought it was funny to listen to me learn how to swear properly as I wrestled it out and back in. Hope your trip is unforgettable.

The weather has cleared. Having fun rolling down 84. The cars keep drawing a lot of attention at every gas.

Called my buddy Craig in Arlington about getting the new rims mounted on the Impala & asked if he can squeeze me in unannounced. Oh yeah, can you get a Carrier Bearing too? He said "hell yeah!"

I pull in, then Gerson & Josh went at it like a NASCAR pit crew.

Josh didn't like the crusty drums, so he blacked them out.

Jegs did me right with getting these rims & lugnuts here in a HURRY, so I don't get delayed too much.

Letters didn't look right with these rims, but I miss the 60's vibe.

The guys blasted thru installing the new Carrier Bearing in no time! I couldn't get into the fray, cuz these guys work together like nowhere I've sern before. Since they had it under control, I made myself useful & took pix for the thread.

We explained to Josh how to use a 3-on-the-tree & he took it for a test drive. He wasn't used to the brakes, so he is now bleeding them again.

They work on a lot of old cars here. Craig doesnt seem to want to part with Candi's Rambler, but he's selling the OT Chevelle.

The vibration kept changing, so I figured it must be an interplay between the carrier bearing & a couple wheels. Sometimes it shook my kidney stones out at 65mph, but other times it might be 57-61mph. 70mph was out of the question.

You are going to miss the vibrating seat.

  26. Man those wheels look great on the car. I am enjoying your adventure

  27. Wait...do I detect a slight taildragger treatment, or is that just some extra junk in the trunk?

  28. Looks great with the new wheels! Glad everyone is going good for you guys
Have fun with the new toy

I see you took the Southern route into town. Plenty of wind turbines to keep you hypnotized going that route.

I really like those new Cragar's. Been thinking of buying a set myself. Great to see Candi's little Nash getting some exposure too.

I'll holler if I make it down. Ya'll have a safe and fun trip.
