I have one of the small 59 impala wheels being painted(red/white) now. I just found a C-1 vette wheel i bought off of the bay. Then i remembered ,me being the hoarder that i am, I have several steering wheels in Garage.I need the smaller wheel, but love the look of the vette wheel.
    so I have 2 questions.
1.What/where do i get adapter to put vette wheel on 59 Impala if i try to use it??
2 . One of the other wheels i have is a real nice 3 spoke wheel, but it is black, rubber/plastic type. Can i paint/dye (red)that wheel once i get all the oil/gunk off of it .
What kind of paint to use, will it last? Thanks for your time.

I'd be surprised if you couldn't just bolt the early Vette wheel onto the 59 column. the turn signal cancelling cam should be the only difference?

As for painting the other wheel...talk to your local paint supply store, they might have some ideas about flex agents, etc.

I do not have the Hub, I guess thats what it is called. Think it takes 6-8 screws for the wheel to bolt to it.
didn't know if there was adapter or if i had to have the corvette part.
I wonder if the same stuff they used on the rubber bumpers would work......hmmmmm

  4. I'd say you need the Corvette parts to bolt the Vette wheel to your 59.

Lots of new steering wheels have a 6 bolt hub that attaches to the older column. I think you may want to google a "Grant steering wheel adapter". Gene

Your question is miss leading. Your ebay buy is this type?

Which looks a lot like a "53" (Bel Air, 210) but with a "sporty" horn ring. ;)

I thought it was the three spoke wheel he was wanting to know about, the kind with a separate hub, aka 1958-9 style. I was eyeballing one on ebay also, may be the one he bought.

^^^^^ It's a two part thread. Less wording and sticking to one thing help's weed out confusion.

I guess if you say its miss leading , I guess you might could get confused.. I did say I had another wheel.I though that was clear. I bought a 58 wheel, i need the hub part of it. I have another wheel in my large collection ,Not a vette wheel, Later model chevy wheel with brushed type 2 spoke but it is a soft rubber/plastic type ring wheel. Not the hard type . The vette wheel is a 3 spoke 58. I'll admit i do not know my c1-c2 c3 vette stuff, never had either .
I forget that I'm typing and not talking in person . maybe don't make myself clear. I guess 58 would be a C-2?? Anyway i think i found what i need.
