Does anyone know anything about early axles? It is a rear axle. I don't have any pictures but I can define it. Here is a crappy drawing done in microsoft paint. Here is it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Like an early Ford rear banjo? That's like two axles that are turned by a Ring and Pinion which mimics that drawing you've supplied.

It is just like that, but take out the middle part. Like 2 bells attached to each other.

There were many trucks with a rear axle like you discribe, plus Rolls Royce and Mercedes that I can remember. That design was used from the teens through the fifties by many manufacturers.

  5. James is correct. it would be like a model T axle or something from that era.

Timken axles used in bigger early Ford trucks. A picture would answer what it really is.

  9. I think that's a modified T rear- was in a thread a while back.

  10. Looks more like a modified shaft drive setup off a motorcycle to me......the castings are definitely new age....are bolts metric on it?
