I am thinking of doing a silver metalflake top on my light primer grey 51 chevy. Has anyone done primer and metal flake? Does it look like ****, or is it cool looking?
I've actually thought about doing my 54 in black with a silver 'flake top. Of co****, you have to use the big speed-boat flake. I've always thought it'd look kool as hell. Next time around, I'm not going to use DP-90 though. A buddy of mine painted his 57 g***er with black semi gloss, and it looks ***s. He painted it a couple years ago, and it still looks like fresh DP-90. And the beauty is... it only cast $30 a gallon!! Just thin it and shoot it. Some kinda tractor paint. And I'd think if a guy went that route, it'd be a better contrast- semi-flat/ gloss 'flake, instead of chalk/ gloss flake. Just my 2 cents.
as a matter of fact....no! haven't had much reason to take any pics yet...that's just the way i am, hell, i always realize after a car is gone and history that i never took any pics of it. i'll see if i can get a couple tomorrow.
ahh sorry, I read it wrong. I thought you were gonna metalflake on top of the primer!!! I retract.... There's plenty of people that have done that.
Friend's old car. If you're going to do it maybe use the darker gray primer on the body for more contrast. And be liberal w/ the flake...you want your roof to be flaked, not speckled.
