Well, trying not to dwell on my missing carb issue I thought I would put up some pics of the car.

I made a new decklid skin on the english wheel. I would post some tech pics but it wan't that big of a deal.
    1. I made a template out of posterboard,
    2. I cut out the piece a little larger than needed
    3. I clecoed the metal piece down to the opening
    4. I Scribed the cut line from underneath by tracing the outline of the hole.
    5. I cut the piece out for final fitment with a beverly shear
    6. Tacked and trimmed piece into hole
    7. Welded in some support rods
    8. Finish welding

I would also like to give a shout out to my homeboy Nathan (187speed) for helping me lift the body off and on at least once a day for about the millionth time it seems.

Here is the pic that characterizes the title of this post.

In this hole I must fit:

    The fuel pump
    some a/c ductwork
    a ventilation fan
    the a/c condensor
the filter and trinary switch for the a/c
    the batteries
    the fuel tank

    So why not use fiberglass?

That would be more "traditional". :D

I'm sure you've heard that one a million times.

    Looking good Plowboy.

You are carrying it! Ha Ha Ha

Once again the spacetruck will be relegated to "support truck" duty. Of course, I will have to find a volunteer to drive it. Ha ha ha

I don't think I want to roll in this blatant violation of the law after a few cocktails. Of course it is unsafe to drink and drive in any vehicle.

  9. Ooohhhh..... nice disclaimer!
Ever consider using white PVC pipe out back for your AC runs? You could bond that stuff right to the inside of the quarters.... run it where ever you wanted that way. Just switch to flex to finish off the runs @ the ducts.
How big of a gas tank you hoping to fit in there?

Hmmm...you say 20 pounds? Must be sum of thet Unobtainium stuff :p I wondered if using (2) Harley type bike batteries would grant you some space...esp. if they are mounted forward somewhere (else!) the condensor wants to be in "free" cool air stream, which might suggest up forward in the custom grille region? Evaporator wants to be just big enough to remove heat from the interior, and the fuel tank(s)...good god man! Can you weld those durn plastic tanks into a useful shape?(Chop, channel, section, nosed, decked, yipes!) I was thinking of custom formed AL panel type tanks...ya got a challenge here Aaron.

I don't have enough room up front for the condensor. Besides, with the compressor mounted low on the motor there will only be two hoses going back to the body which you won't really see because the headers will get all the attention.

The evaporator is up under the cowl and all the wiring will be crammed below it.

the gas tank sits on that metal shelf that the condensor is under. it is rather flat but then there is a sump that drops off on the driver's side down low.

There isn't enough room for a whole battery, so I am running 2 6 volt optimas in series on either side of the driveshaft. I need to have enough battery to run 2 electric fans, the a/c, and the auxillary ventilation fan, plus have enough power to open the top a few times when it is not running, you know, to show off. I am going to attempt to have the top open by remote control, which adds in a lot more wiring.

I think I recall evaporators that would drip, if chilling damp air, so watchout beneath, for wiring. As to Optima batts, good brand, the additional load reqd. was to be capable of turning over that hemisphere, yes?

I have a vintage air small a/c unit. there is a drain tube on the bottom that will drip out the bottom of the car.

I have the top rigged up with a lever that runs off a linear actuator. I also have some springs attached to the lever to take some of the strain off of the actuator motor.

I have had good luck with the optima batteries. Just incase you think it would be the same cost for 2 6 volters, ummm nope. It cost the same for a 6 volt as a 12 volt. We are dealers for interstate here at the CO-OP and my cost was still about 250 bucks for the 2 of them!!!!

Aaron, you probably would have got a lot more done if you hadn't taken the time to go pick up my "creampuff" yesterday. Thanks again. Can't post anything about it 'cause it's way O/T.Punk looks great!

No, it will be welded shut. If it did open, you would only open it to find the gas tank and that is it.

Doc said that it was a pain in the ass to fill up the Lunar Lander by opening the trunk all the time, so this one is getting a flip top gas lid poking up through the decklid.

  21. I think you will make round up now. Right? anyways looks killer as always. Do you have paint picked out yet?

Are you going to install and ejection seat in case you can't get that huge contact lense to pop off in case of emergency? Ya know, if it was powered by a VW, not only would it look like something George Jetson would fly, but it would sound like it too. :)

    I love watching this build!

Hmmmmm, I did not know you could find two pound bags...I've been only able to secure one pound bags...

    R-

  26. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! If 10 lbs. of poop in a 5 lb. bag is known as a "blivet" would 20 lbs. in a 2 lb. bag be known as a "Mega-Blivet"? Sounds like a good name for a future vehicle.:D Nice looking stuff Aaron;can't wait to see it completed.

  27. Getting sexier by the minute.

I'll let you figure out if I'm talking about you or the car, honeybunch. :D

Aaron, I think now from looking at your pictures, you have misnamed your latest creation. Attached is a Chip Foose rendering of the car that may make you reconsider.

Actually, I'm just jealous that you are actually WORKING on yet another killer project........
