As I am getting my pile ready to go to the Drags at MoKan this year, it occurs to me that this year is 20. 20 freaking years driving my piles of crap to Joplin, Mo to race with all the cool kids. Almost 50 thousand miles in two decades. Crazy when you think about it... 2003, I drove my Model A. I drove this old girl the first decade of so before finally sending her to semi-retirement. She started off in the 13s and ended up finally breaking into the 10s. Then, I thought it might be a good idea to drive something with windows, so I drove my old beater '36 truck one year. One year I brought this little '34 coupe with a Chevvie motor. The only Chevvie motor I have ever owned in my life. It cranked right up, ran great and got good mileage. I hated it. The last few years have been in my beloved '40 coupe. This little car makes lots of power, is super comfortable and has a 5th gear for flying down the interstate at breakneck speed. Allegedly... (thanks to Nate Luke for the pic.) So here I am, getting ready to make this same trip for the 20th time and it makes me think back on all the good times we had, all the cool people I got to meet and all the cool cars that have powered down one of the oldest drag strips in the country. (thanks, Carl!) So, what are you bringing this year and what did you drive to MoKan in the last 20 years??? -Abone.
