I need to replace the gear selector shaft on my 88' 200 4r. I dropped the pan and have the linkage & rooster comb off the shaft and ready to pull the shaft out. But its this little "NAIL" that im not sure if its whats holding the shaft from being pulled out? Any insight into this would be great!!! The OHIO winters got the best of it..the threaded dbl. D portion of the shaft was rusted solid and wouldnt let go "SNAP"! This is the trans that i swapped into my 55' Olds with 350 Olds motor.

Yes you have to remove the pin (nail) to get the shaft out of the case. There is probably a plastic wire harness through the pin also. The pin will come out kinda hard and it is easy to break off.
