Way cool. Look how much asphalt has been laid up between pic #4 and pic #5 over the years. (Look at the concrete retaining wall.)

that is great. i didn't know they had the track in that area in those years. i'll look at it in a new way next time i am there. i thought it was just the 1/4 mile.

  6. My friends dad told me about how they used to roadrace there, but I never thought of following up on it and searching for any pic's. Great find Mazooma!!! As usual...

I'm the same way Doug. I love to research places (like that underpass) and go there and just wonder what a certain place was like back in the day. The old vs. new comparisons are fun to look at. Pat Ganahl went all around the greater L.A. area a few years ago photo-documenting all the speed equipment, body, custom, etc. shops and he published the photos in TRJ. Fascinating! Keep it up.

I also use Google Earth to see places like old dragstrips and abandoned WWII airfields around the country. You wouldn't believe how many cool old WWII training airfields there still are, many left abandoned in 1945 but still there.

Great shots! Thanks for posting them. Sure would like to see more of the HEMI powered Black 30-31 Ford Roadster, posted just after the Little Red Wagon.

Thanks for all the effort it takes to not only cruise around taking pictures but also the time and effort it takes to post them...I'm still amazed at how you guys get photos without someone standing in the way.
