it may have been cool if they had not put those BUT-UGLY dayton wheels on it.a set of rusty crager(sp?)SS would have looked beter.

The only thing that comes to mind is WHY? Hours of metal work multiplied by cubic dollars and in the end, you still have a BMW. BMW’s, and the like, are nothing but a pseudo status symbol. With the kind of money into that thing the owner could have had a REAL car.

    Thanks, Chip.
Actually, I am quite impressed with the work on the car and the outcome. The only drawback is it is still a new BMW. But I bet it drives just like a new BMW...plush and fast.

mmmm... I can appreciate the work that went into it, but I'm all set on that thing. Man, if I had the money and tools they clearly had access to ... jeezus-pleezus!

I had to go find a stocker to really get it. That's a lot of hours to do that!

  13. i think the panels are based on a volga...there was a coupe on here not that long ago......nice but needs to be lower and for what you would have shelled out for a BMW and then the work you could have had a real nice Merc. Looks like the work qas done in the eastern block so the work rates would be like a turnip a day or sumat. Thats why you can buy an all alloy Cobra replica body made in Poland that is really good, Retail in the UK is £40000 ish (around $74000) for a hand made alloy body that's better than an original.

  14. PS....if it's £40k retail then the cost plus shipping is gona be around £20k and may be a lot less!!

Not appropriate for here, but it takes a real sack to cut-up a brand new car and make it look different . . . kind of like hacking up a '57 Chevy from the show-room floor . . . or a new Merc (at the time). I think the car looks beautiful . . . . but still not everyone here's cup of tea.

    AMEN BROTHER!
i thought you said it was made cool...
while i appreciate all the talent and work that went into that car (or any car for that matter), i must say that thing is fucking awful! looked better stock.
why do you guys drool all over this type of shit??? i just don't get it.

in my opinion, they wasted a perfectly good '55 chevy rear bumper!

    Nicely uniformed "techs"!
    It be the East-Euro-Boyd shop?

The next step is popping molds off it and making fiberglass copies so Russians can have the equivilant of a '95 Thunderbird/'49 Shoebox?

I like it as well, (as a Tbird/shoebox) but I don't understand the need for the bubbled 1/4 panel.
Is it to replicate something, other than a '53 Ford?

They should have gone one step further and changed the whole door skin to get rid of that now awkward mid body line.

  22. I think it looks like Tub's attempt to out do Sonny's black car.

Pretty neat modern interpretation of a Volga, if you ask me. I kind of dig it. Here's the hardtop version. Might look silly to us, but to the Rooskies, it's automotive heritage.

Though I do agree with the "why?", the M3 shouldn't be grouped into the status symbol catagory. Even though it ends up in the hands of lots of yuppies and starbucks power-parkers, it is a SERIOUS performance vehicle, especially in the road racing genre. They're also a fantastic foundation for aftermarket mods and making some big horsepower. An aftermarket supercharger will put HP well up over 500, and you can still get the groceries and the kids in it. It may not be traditional, but it's definitely a REAL car.

I dig the body mods, some real nice work there. stance and wheels gotta go.

The M3 is the "baby" performance Bimmer with "only" 333hp. The M6 has a 500 hp V10. It is a very serious performance car that can smack the new Mustang and give a Z06 a serious run. Why? Shit, why do we build the stuff we do?

I dig BMWs, mostly anything euro, but this thing is awful looking IMO. Respect the workmanship and blah blah, but past that I think it was hundreds of hours to make a lateral if not downward move with looks.

    I couldn't dissagree more...

The end product has messed up proportions and doesn't flow nearly as well as the original...

Stock M6's might be ugly, but they made it uglier.
