2006 Hunnert Car PileUp Oct 14th!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by hotrodladycrusr, May 31, 2006.

  1. Any Flint/Detroit area hambers planning on making the drive? I would love to check it out this year. I'm pretty sure the coupe is worthy of a road trip! It would be cool if we could get at least as many as we had for the morning of billetproof to drive down, that was kick ***!!

I just reserved a room at the holiday inn! I'll be heading out with my buds in tow and hopefully the chevy will make the trek. We'll have to get a convoy going from Detroit.
And Hey, post 666 on 6-6-6!!! guess if the apocolypse is coming you know which way I swing :)

I had a blast last year and it was cold as cold as you could want it.

Actually it was much colder than you'd want it but we raided Wal-Mart for all the warm weather gear we could afford and soldiered on.

It's a must go show for me. But I'm originally from corn country and just feel better there.

I was even born in Illinois (Woodstock) and lived in Evergreen Park area as a wee pup.

That bar is going to burst at the seams this year.

  10. My sons B-days are Oct 12th & Oct 22. I stopped screwing my wife then I divorced her. No more kids!!!

Think I'll bring my oldest (11years) to this year's Pile-Up. Hell, maybe I'll even bring a car through the gates this time too... :(

    October 14th - I'd better get busy!!

Yeah, we have a great line up again this year!

    Friday night (at the bar)
Hot Rod Hucksters (Django, OldMuleSkinner, and My band; rockabilly)
Pyschobilly Kadillaks (far from psychobilly, more like good old country drinking songs - loads of fun!)

Saturday (at the show... in no particular order)
Ace Brown & the Helldivers (great Midwest traditional Rockabilly)
    Hillbilly Idle (revved up rockabilly/neo-rockabilly)
Baron von Otto Matic (surf from Des Moines)

Saturday night (at the bar again)
    The Stranger (punk, garage)
The Goldstars (60s garage... sometimes with GoGo Girls!)

Also FYI, the criteria is a little stiffer this year.

Mainly we will be enforcing rules we've had all along, like no stockers or stock-appearing cars.. like the guy with the dead stock 64 I turned away last year despite his whines of "but it has a 454 under the hood!" and we've added some explicit rules, like NO ART CARS, like that stupid skull car from last year and some more clear bike/scooter rules, paint rules, etc. That kind of thing.

That mean you're going to turn the Hulk car away again?

Damn, I had to walk all the way out in the parking lot to laugh at that thing!

hey dude, that Hulk car is a survivor of the g***er wars... or so he claimed. He *****ed and moaned that we allowed the Zettle Bros 65 GTO g***er in, but not his 65. I had to try to gently explain to him that if he couldn't see the difference, then it was too bad... and it's our show and we make the decisions. :D I told him no, two of the Suedes told him no, then he went to Magnet, and he told him no.

So, no more 65s, not even the Zettles (they're bringing a new, cool, year-appropriate car anyway), and no more dumb*** skull cars.

What if they can prove the skull is pre 64? :p

(I guess the Weld racing wheels would exclude it...)

That's OK, Tyler and I were screaming NO! as we were in line next to him on the way in.

The only thing I saw it survive (or maybe not) was the flourescent paint fad of the late 80's, early 90's.

Trust me, flourescent paint is over.....

The skull car owner was a real jerk and caused a lot of problems at the front gate. He was told by at least 5 staff people that he couldn't get in, but he held up the line arguing until finally someone just let him in just to get the line moving. If anyone gives us problems like that this year, the cops will be on hand to deal with them.

  21. Are the rules written in stone or is admittance up to the discretion of whoever's at the gate?

What I'm getting at is how mild can your mods be and still let you get in? Is a simple tire and wheel swap with the rest stock gonna cut it or does the car need some paint mods too? What about other than stock interior with a stock body? I'd like to bring my Rambler wagon but it's not gonna be chopped or anything wild. Maybe a set of chrome reversed w/ WW and a 'flake roof and new interior. (No not tweed!)

Are there some more detailed guidelines we can get somewhere?

I'll be there, but won't try and get the '94 Voyager in the gate. ;)

I'm hoping to have something for next year. :)

Mild is OK. The rules are stated pretty clearly on the website... well, as clearly as you can define something as nebulous as "traditional". All the guys at the gate are of a like mind and we make sure of it. If you have any doubts, you can always send us a pic.

Unless the Rambler came factory with a flake roof, I think you will be fine. :D

http://www.hunnertcarpileup.com has all the criteria listed.

The gate crews will be well versed on what is acceptable and what is not. If they have questions, they can defer to one of the Czars. Really guys, the changes in criteria are not that drastic. The most cars that will be affected are the "stock" cars...

It doesn't matter if you have a 1000 hp motor under the hood of your '61 Impala, if it isn't apparent that its visually modified somehow on the outside in some special way (and a 1963 color on a stock 1961 body does not count) then it's getting denied.

Stockers were never allowed anyway, but that was the most lax criteria for entry and we let alot of them slide... they're cool cars too, and I applaud anyone driving something old and not a muscle car but the Pileup is not for the restoration crowd.
