Awsome pictures Dunkin. You definatly cought the vibe of the show. Lot's of fun for everyone and laid back.

Theres not many shows with great cars, great people, kicka$$ rockabilly music and a rock climbing wall!

So whoes the luker with the pre-55 Jimmy. I need to see if he has another front end he would like to part with.

And the candy was only for the kids........................and hot Moms.

Hello guys. I registered here to say thank you for the kind words. I'm the guy who started the Arkansas Pontiac Association, the host club for this event. We work our a$$e$ off to make this show a good time. It's sure nice to see you guys enjoying it.

We may have to move it next year. We've about outgrown that river front park where we host it. We hate to lose that cool location but you do what you have to.

We only registered 275 cars but not all those who came registered. That's a shame since it helps us fund our charity, the Arkansas Children's Hospital. Oh well, I sleep well knowing I did my part.

Come back next year and come find "critter" and say hello!

PS - Yes, I own a Pushrod CD.

Hey dude! It's your fellow T.V. Star here, lol.....
Yes, APA does work there butts off. And if it weren't for Carol Dolan much of what we have here would not be possible. That little lady works hard for us all. They have talked about moving for several years now due to space. The fair grounds would be great, but it's kinda in a "rough" area thats not so eye pleasing like the River Market District is. Plus where else can you go to a car show and the Farmer's market all at once!

Glad to see ya joined. Hang out and bask in all of our greasy goodness.

Well, you saw who we gave a plaque to. Carol is a gearhead extroidinaire! Now we have O'Reilly's Autofest, Hot Rod Power Tour and Americruise next year. We need some help. I might have to recruit some of you guys to help us out. :)

Hey, how about that flame thrower show from the Texas Bandit crew? Man! The only problem was not being able to get them close to the crowd. Good thing we didn't because someone would have had singed hair for sure.

Yea, I think Carol about crapped when he popped the front end up going through the skillet in the S-10!

When you're responsible for the liability and safety that kind of stuff does make you want to crap. I know.

Besides, we've all seen the video from Tennessee where they were just having fun. One mistake and someone dies. That's not fun.

He was being careful by just blipping the throttle. The only thing is, what if something breaks and that throttle hangs open? It only takes one accident to kill an event. Carol has fought hard to get the city to invest in the car hobby. It's paying off now. She (and the rest of us) don't want to lose any ground now.

OK, enough of that maudlin crap.

I'm looking for some advice. One thing that happens at these shows is that groups tend to "block vote" in the popular vote and many of the same people win trophies every year. I'd like to see that spread around more and try to appeal to the wide variety of automotive enthusiasts out there. Any ideas on how we can do that?

Well, I've noticed that too. My wife said something about that today. I say, who cares. I'm not there for a trophy. Even though I whored myself out on the Hydro's contest.....

The only way I would know to change that is either have the club pick all of the cars, or, you could have spectators do it? Or, throw all of the trophies into a pile and let the Gold Chainers wrestle over them.

  20. Thanks for the pics Don and "Dumpkin"! Michelle, Katherine and I enjoyed our time with you and Kim yesterday. Good to see all you other guys, too! Nice to finally meet you Hubnut! I'll try to have a car there next year!

LOL. I like the last idea.

We have some in the club who worry about the wax and plastic trophies. I'm not one of them, as you know.

I just feel bad that we have such a broad spectrum of cars and the frickin' street rods win all the awards.

The top 30 are peoples choice and out of that I think 2 muscle cars got awards. After that it was all slicked out 55-57 Chevy's or street rods. I wish there was some fair way to recognize everything from ricers to rat rods.

    OK, I'm dreaming.

The Big Cruisefest in Little Rock is an awesome show, well worth the 500 mile 7hr. trip. It was hard to check out 1Lows Burb suspension though, that thing sat so tight to the ground daylight couldn't get underneath it. Yep, Pushrod ROCKS! Looking forward to seein' ya next year again.

Man, everytime I went to talk to you and introduce myself either you were not there or I got side traked by one of my little monsters.

Your car was a huge hit at the show. We very rarely get to see a piece of history like that. Thank you!

You know, critter, Micky Bryan (straykatkustoms) puts on the Stray Kat 500 and several other shows. He picks most of the winners, as well as a couple of other individuals who give out awards from rod shops, etc. His trophies aren't based on the usual criteria...they're based more on "kool" factor than the typical points stuff.

I've seen really cool unfinished cars get awards at the Stray Kat 500 that wouldn't even get noticed at most shows.

It might be worth it to contact Mick and ask how he decides what cars get awards.

It's also cool that Arkansas Children's Hospital benefits...my 18 month old grandson would not be alive if not for ACH. He is a "frequent flyer" there.

toadfrog, a number of people I talked to at the show said, "Man, have you seen those cars over there from the Leadfoot Garage?"

All I could say was, "Yeah, they're personal friends of mine."

I think some of the gold chainers were trying to remember when they last got their Tetanus shot.
