I KINDA like the idea of the smaller tags to 'add' to your original......BUT.... what about a guy who joins the HAMB, say, 2008, gets an Alliance in 2009. Which tag would HE get? The bigger or smaller tag?? I think just changing colors would be cheaper and easier on Ryan. I'm sure he's busy enough as it is without doing TWO different tags......
I don't really like the idea of an additional tag below the the original one. My tag is on the dash of my car and I don't want to have 2007 2008 etc plastered all over it, in the future. Black and dark red alternating I think would work.
My line of thinking was that the main Alliance tag would be for whatever year you initially join and the smaller ones for the following years. I also think that the 2006 tags... the first run of this, should be unique. But then again, I just hang out here.
I like the small additional... That might be an idea to think about... As for multiples of tags... I don't really expect folks to put multiples on their car. I know I won't. BUT, it would be cool to have an '06 for my '38 and a '07 for my '30.... And my toolbox would look chick with one, etc... Point being, I think the '06 tag is the one I would want on my car long-term... I'm thinking and reading... keep bringing the feedback...
I agree with you Ryan. I'm not going to wallpaper my firewall with 50 tags of anything.... I would like to have them all over my toolbox though.
I would probably put as many as my dash would fit- about 3 in other words. The additional small tags I would think would only complicate matters, because you would need to keep producing the large tags and also make a new tag each year with just the date, etc. I'd think for production sake keeping it the same size and design and alternating colors would be easiest and cheapest on your part I like rust brown too
I'm proud to have the 2006 tag on my car. The only reason I'd want another tag would be for another car, but I'd still like it to relflect that I was here for the first year. How about the same design as the current tag, but incorporate a "Member Since" or something to that effect? We could get a new tag every year in case we need to replace one or picked up a nice '36 Ford...but, it would still look the same. Just a thought... Bryan
Ryan - Being a cheap-ass, I was waiting until I could justify the spend via discounts. Now that I 'see' the potential of having one tag and a buncha bitty ones hangin' below, I feel different about it - like I gotta get an '06 to be on board first thing. You're gonna hafta make big tags either way, and bitty tags are a badge of honor - kinda like bein' and old-school HAMB'r. It's about doin' your time - earning the right, so to speak. Subsequent years (2007 and up) could be cropped big tags with a bitty tag as a starter to save face from a logistical point of view. Just make sure to trash the current year's tags on Jan 31, man.
Nahh - the solution is to crop off the '2006' portion of the current tag and then offer '07 and up members the main nameplate and a bitty tag here on out. Makes the '06 alliance members special while making things simpler for Ryan in the long run.
Just an idea... Instead of changing or making new tags every year. I also probably will never change my tag or add another small additional one. I'm all for using a good quality decal with the date to be placed directly over the 2006 year. This way there wont be a need to stamp new ones and no need to try removing the ones already installed. That way my 2006 plate will be worth 1500.00 by 2050.
I've seen some old dry lakes guys that make a plaque with all of their old timing tags on it thats how i have been looking at this i will probably put the first one on my car when 2007 comes...put 2006 on the plaque and switch each year (you'd have to use screws instead of rivets though) that way you'll always have a new date on your car and gradually build up to an impressive display i 've been tight on money this year but i wanted to be sure i had every one of these so i found a way Zach
I was looking at it differently; the guy who's finishing up work on my car didn't leave a lot of room for a timing tag on the dash...
I vote for keeping the design the same every year, changing colors... I'll leave that up to Ryan. I don't like the idea of having a smaller tag for the years that follow 2006. And here is why: I made sure to take a nice picture of my car at Mokan. My plan is to take that picture and the 2006 tag and have them framed for my wall as soon as the 2007 tag comes out. And then do the same through-out the years. Another thing to consider is the lasting power of the 2006 tag. If a new tag is just added to the bottom of the old, how long till the 06' tag is worn out. I noticed on the corners, and along the bottom, of mine it is already starting to peel.
I really like the current design, end up with the entire firewall covered some day with only the dates changed,
Peel? Hey dude... you do realize there is a plastic covering to protect the screen print? You are supposed to peal that off as soon as ya get the tag...
I'm leaving it on as long as I can to protect it. I'm the kind of gut that leaves that plastic cover thingy on his cell phone, and makes everybody set on towels in his car. LOL!
I'll be happy with whatever you decide. I'd been putting off getting my Alliance membership started ,since Christmas time is coming and I was spending all the extra cash on the young ones, but I figured the kids will have to sacrifice to make me happy.
ok, I will be the outcast here, I know Loudpedal is with me on this one, but.. They are just too HUGE they really look to big IMHO so I agree with Lucky Burton on this one how about making them smaller all together like the old SCTA tags. They seem to large on the firewall to me, as far as color goes maybe red or black. I do not like the idea of adding years under the original 2006 tag, thats going to opposite of what I suggest. anyways just a suggestion you asked and its something that bothered me about the current ones, but hell I am not even an alliance member yet so my opinion probably doesnt count, but I will be hopefully after x-mas..
Keep the design (it's great), keep it black, change the date, keep it simple. Also the unused tags can be used the following year.
You know Denise, you jest. But I'm learning I should just let Tina do everything and I should just walk behind saying "Yes Dear". Life would a lot easier if I just stayed out of her way!
You know what? I sort of agree on the size thing... In a perfect world, they would be a bit smaller and made of thicker stock. Here's why they are not: 1. We need enough width for 21 characters on the username and at the time there is no way in hell I could afford the smaller character set for my stamper to support a smaller tag. 2. The thickness the tags are currently is the thickest material that could be die cut with the special HAMB logo shape. Maybe it would be cool to just start making the tags the exact same shape, but about 10% smaller (I could now invest in a smaller letter set)... That would still make the 2006 tags a little extra special...
leave it alone. Its timeless now. why do you have to have a yr? its on you name on the board. for every new member give him/them one with the yr they join. one is enough for me.
