i like the idea of same tag every year, but maybe different colors.

only thing i do not like about the smaller yearly ad on is what if some one has more then one car and wannts to run a different year on each car!

I like the idea of a smaller tag even if you have to keep the name area bigger.

Shoot, I joined back in 2000 and for some reason whenever my post count gets up to about 4,000 it resets down around 3,100. I have had well over 10k in posts on this board, but I don't care, it's kinda amusing really.

I'm just glad I can help keep this place afloat. It has given me more than the $50 a year I'm paying, the friends, tech, assholes, drama, comedy, O/T, solace... you name it. I'm an Alliance Member because this place is cool, not to have a title under my name (the discount helps tho').... :D

I like this idea a lot. Keep them the same, maybe make the 2006 tag a special edition by making a minor change to the 2007 and later tags, but keep the mounting hole location the same.

I really like Elrod's idea of smaller tags below a "header" tag. First year member would have the header tag with the year, then each year would get a smaller tag.

Not sure how others feel, but personally, the reason I like this is so I actually still have room on my firewall for things like fuel blocks, filters, oil filter, etc. I don't really have much for a dash, so firewall will be where these will go. After about 5 or 6 years, things are going to get a little tight and for that matter it may end up being all tags someday.

    Just my thoughts...

DAMN, I also assumed the image was a cheap-o print on adhesive film, and was frankly suprised that it wasn't etched or painted.

    Here's my suggestion.

Just make a small year tag that uses the same holes as the timing tag. No new holes to drill.

    Easy, breezy, beautiful cover girl.

I like this idea for the people that already have the first year, but if I'm a guy who signs up in 2009 as my first year, do I just get a black bar that says 2009? The original tags are going to be long gone. I wouldn't want a plain bar that says 2009 on it as my first tag.

I'm thinking you're first year should have that cool full size tag for sure! That thing is a work of art in itself.

I'm not sure I would like the idea of taking screws or rivets OUT of the bottom holes each time. The original tag is going to get screwed up pretty quick and for that matter, once those tags start stacking up on there, things are going to start looking sketchy. In addition, you can't tell when someone joined. I think it would be pretty cool to look at a HAMBer's car in 10 years and know when his/her's HAMB legacy started. Makes for a good conversation piece.

Again, just my opinion. I liked your first idea better, Elrod.

I like Harings idea because then Ryan can do a bulk buy of backing tags and only print off the smaller yearly tags as needed. The big back tag will NOT have a year on it so the 2006 tags will ROCK. Maybe make it a $5 option to add the larger tag when you re-up to slather your stash with.

i dig the idea of smaller year tags to place under the original tag...

for those who want to frame the past years, offer a new full tag for the current year for an additional couple bux... that would go for those who want multi tags on multi cars... AND keeps new alliance members in full sized tags at the same time!

didnt we go over this "i need three of these tags, one for each car" deal about 3 months ago???

anyhow, just my two cents, and for that matter, my opinion aint changed one bit about these trinkets, or the Alliance for that matter... its about supporting Ryan and the HAMB... these tags are just a bonus. next thing you know folks be wanting Alliance hats, hoodies and keychains with remotes for thier door locks and trunk poppers

Jeez . . . like someone with a 1940's timing tag was going 'you know, next year they should be different because we were special" . . . or "wow, this is going to be worth some money x number of years from now". LOL -- sometimes things crack me up on here. Just drill the pop rivets, or unscrew it . . . (surely nobody double side taped them) and put it on the toolbox for a trophy and display your current year, IMHO. I'm just about getting to the point I can pony up the bucks for one . . . still gotta car to get rid of (BUY MY OLD BUICK -- subliminal message #1).

Anyway the tags and Alliance are cool as hell, if I was 'Mr. Money Bags' I'd splurge for memberships for my dad and uncle (BUY MY OLD BUICK -- subliminal message #2) for Christmas presents. As it stands now, I'm going to put a membership on my Chrismas list myself and see what happens. :-D

    And . .. . . . just in case . .. .(BUY MY OLD BUICK -- subliminal message #3)

  21. "Maybe it would be cool to just start making the tags the exact same shape, but about 10% smaller (I could now invest in a smaller letter set)... That would still make the 2006 tags a little extra special..."

I am with you on this idea boss. but I understand the character issue. If the size cannot be changed then I say just keep them the same but with a new year every year. Anyone who joins will have a tag from the year they joined the alliance, those that joined in 2006 will have bragging rights because they will have the first year tag and can do whatever they want when they re-new with the new tag. maybe those who re-new can get like $5 bucks off of the renewl charge or something if they dont want a new tag. Unless its like a inspection sticker and you have to have the new year tag on your rod to be an alliance member for that current year. anyways just ideas that is all...

Call me self-centered if you want, but I still like my idea. For those who don't want to plaster a bunch of tags on their firewall, here's a solution; Rivet the main full-size tag on and then screw the most current add-on beneath that. That way as the years go by, you'll only be changing the add-on plate and we'll all know what year you can on board.

Anyone who matters already should know how special the 2006 tag is. If they don't, then either educate them or fuck ‘em...

Someone mentioned that Ryan could order plates as he needs them. While in a perfect world this sounds great, it's truly in Ryan’s best interest to order as many as he thinks he'll be using for the year all at once. It's all about bulk pricing.

And speaking of pricing, the smaller add-on tags would have to be cheaper to produce as there are no odd angles or curves, just four straight lines and two or four holes, depending on the design. Ryan will be using far less of the full-size tags as the years go on as there will realistically be more people re-upping, requiring the smaller tags, as opposed to new people joining, requiring the full-size tags.

Either way, I need to get my fifty clams in before it’s too late to get a 2006 tag!

    I like Harings idea.

If you have an 2006 already mounted then cool. Your 2007 can be attached below it, your 2008 can then be attached right over the top fo the '07.

If you are new you get the big tag with your 1st year.

I do not see any reason what-so-ever to make Ryan or anyone stamp out all of our names each year if we already have one with our names stamped on it.

easy fix- for those of us that have the '06 tag, print up a bushel of "rockers" to go under them when we re-up. these could be optional.

then the full size numbers could be had for new members, -OR if an existing member decides he (or she) wants a new full size, they can pay and additional fee of (oh what's a nice round number...10 bucks? 5?) to get THAT YEARS new full size tag.

Personally, mine is on my Box, and neither of my cars (currently) has a nice enough spot to stick a new one on, but if a year from now I build the Tudor I am currently losing sleep over, I will want a tag for the firewall. in the mean time, I would put up the bucks for BOTH a small one and a large one- little one for the Box, and a big one for my current Hot Rod, my welder. (or mabey my hood. dunno, but I would pay for it.)
