Reg. is in the mail. I can't wait.....always the highlight of my year!

On picking up the registration....you say it will be available at the expo center, but can it also still be picked up at the Continental Club later at night? Heading to the Expo center anytime before the show on Saturday seem like going out of the way...

On second thought, if the swap meet is going on Friday, then it's directly on the way! Either way...just curious.

  13. Right - Registration pickup will be at the Expo Center only - not at the Continental Club at all. You can pick it up all day at the Expo Center, and go check out the vendors, the swap meet, other cars getting in, etc. Bands will be playing out there, etc. So you won't be going out of your way, you'll be going to where the party is at.

We are basically adding a day out at the Expo Center so people can get in during the day and easily park and go pick up their registration, check out the swap meet, etc - get the weekend started off without being right in the teeth of some bad Friday daytime traffic... make sense?

If thats what it meant, then thats what they would say. Not sure how you could infer that...

    Without Congress....there is no Roundup.

It looks like they are doing away with the breakfast at the Hula Hut on Sat. morning. Speaking from experience - it was ***** to get up to go to breakfast on Sat. morning, but it was worth it.

:eek: I didn't even notice. Doesn't mean they'll be closed though. It's fun dodging bicyclists too.

Missed it last year. Have been waiting for this year. See y'all in April.

  23. Where's the place to stay? I've been at the Homestead the last couple of years, which is close to Congress, but with the new venue just wonderin where people are going to be.

  24. Not at all -
Night time shows will still be on at the Continental Club and Trophy's and the art show upstairs at the Continental Gallery all weekend - so there will be plenty of folks cruising and checking out South Congress and all over Austin. We are just trying to provide a more comfortable experience for everyone by not having to deal with traffic during the day, and adding things like the swap meet that gives you more cool things to do over the Round Up weekend, yeah?

Us Omaha guys are staying near Congress again this year, within 6-8 blocks of the Continental Club. Much easier to get back to our rooms after the evening's activities! ;)

A few of us actually hung out with you and a couple buddies at the Homestead parking lot late on Sat. night last year....

Sounds like the Cali Chapter is planning on making it out along with some of the other Boulevardos.

Regarding questions about S. Congress Ave, yes S. Congress is still there and yes I am sure folks will be cruising it on Thurs, Fri and Sat evenings, but w/ the growth of the show we can not feasible handle all the extra cars down there on Friday during the day, there is literally hardly any place to park down there any more. We used to be the only thing happening down on that street, but as many of you know from coming here year after year, our best kept secret has been discovered and now there are way too many parking intensive businesses that have moved in. As a result, it would just turn into a frustrating experience for everyone trying to get down there Friday during the day, so that's the main motivation for moving all the day time activities including registration pickup on Fri and Sat to the Expo center. Not to mention hopefully a killer car parts swap meet and car corral along w/ some great music, great food and all your favorite vendors selling all kida kool stuff out there both Friday and Saturday. Hopefully after dark things will loosen up a little bit on S. Congress and it will be cruisable, maybe not all that parkable. I know it sux, but that's what has happened to our little sleepy side of town. We are hoping this will motivate you to drive around and see other parts of our fair city. There are some great dives all over town. Ever been to the Horseshoe Lounge? How about Deep Eddy Caberet? Ginny's Little Longhorn? Can't wait to see everybody in April.
