cars are built to enter this comp and built to the rules to gain points.....the overall look and stance isn't really part of that. No doubt it's been finished to a fantastic standard, perfect paint, chrome, polished ally...and it's cost a fooking fortune...but it's been built for the rules of the AMBR trophy and proved that by winning. You have all seen some real piles win prizes over the years and thought WTF. Most of the guys here build the cars the way they want them to look and not to win a cheap trophy...If you think this is bad you want to check out some concours classic cars....loosing points for soot in the exhaust and gaining points for having the stickers still on the tred of the original tyre....not a car but a big ornament!
That THING makes me laugh, Almost as much as hearing Scott's voice. Dore's car is beautiful, except that air cleaner. What the hell was he thinking ?
Sadly, once again, the judges have to show us they don't know their ass'es from their elbows. I posted a comment on Dave's site that I felt it was a chromed, painted and polished abortion and I still stand by it.
Ryan,,there has been a big mistake,,the judges did their jobs,,,,the problem was the Judges are from Vegas and thought they were there to Judge ,,,AMBR,,,AMERICAS MOST BEAUTIFUL ROULETTE! HRP
Gotta say I agree with Bustedknuckles! At least we DRIVE our cars. Completely agree with all the other comments, a shiny rolling piece of crap.
The only other car that will be a driver ..is the MAGNITUDE ..that a winner in my class ... Driveum till the wheels fall off
What did everyone expect. It's not who can build the best hot rod, it's who can throw the most money at some big name builder! I think the rules also encourage making as many modifications as possible. It doesn't mention good taste, history, or any of the things we think of. I agree too that the black 36 in the back ground of the first picture is a winner. It couldn't win though, I saw it actually driving around at the Street Rod Nationals north in 06. I agree with what Busted Knuckles said too. Red
I would rather own a yugo then that peice of shit. It has no style at all and reminds me of cheap restaraunt seats and a hooker. Dore's car is amazing!
I actually thaught the Ala Kart had a chance to win. Look at the contenders....none of the big names were there. Did they stay away to give the Kart a chance? The winner is a joke. The car may be detailed to the max but lacks any sence of style! From the pics I doubted the Dore car would win. Hood, doors and trunk all closed. Judges need that stuff open. I like the cars closed myself and am glad he didn't play by the rules. Clark
If that abortion of styling is a winner over that awesome 36 then the AMBR award is adsolutely worthless.I feel for those guys who knew how to build a quality ride and got robbed.I know it should'nt be about winning but how the hell do you deal with losing to that piece of misguided thinking.Just look at those tires. How does anyone think they look good? It's just a damn shame.
Maybe they should make them hotlap it out to the edge of town to a parking lot and do the judging there. The sites not know till 5 minutes before they go. No ropes, no angle hair, no roulette wheels...........
See which ones actually move under there own power and which ones just got pushed around lol If you spin the roulette wheel will the car go flying off like when you put a cat on a ceiling fan?
...there oughta be a re-call, re-count, re-ject, re-pulsed, re-ward....or re-somethun'...this just aint right.
Aweful critical bunch aren't we? So, what was the last AMBR winner that everyone liked? let me guess, it was in 1969, or something like that. Just so you don't all think I have my head up my ass, my preference would have been for the 36 also.
For patriotic loyalty, my vote is obviously Timebomb John's '36. If the winning roadster had different rims/tires and seats and a little less bling, I'd drive the piss out of it.
Sorry for the visual guys..but that looks like somethin' i saw last night in my toilet bowl afer chowing down on a box of corndogs!
Unfortunately, it has been a long, long time since a decent looking car won the AMBR. The real winners are the owners who DROVE their rides to the show and parked around the buildings or the Suede palace folks.
Someday I hope to get to the AMBR show, we have a free place to stay in LA now but I'm so glad I couldn't afford airfair for two this year.
