I'll be there racin. Hope to see more people come out. A couple years of rain seemed
to turn some folks off. Still think its one of if not the best race of the year.

Are the motels in the Austinburg area the closest to the track ? We're coming up to race at the IHRA Pro-Am event in early May and don't know the area. Thanks.

  6. I'd have to say yes to that one. If you need a number or something let me know I can look it up for ya. Rooms are clean and the place is not that old.

I would check the Geneva area out. Pretty sure its closer than Austinburg. Others may
offer up better/closer areas. Not sure where Sarver Pa. is, you may be comin from farther south than RT.90 and be able to mapquest other towns?

It would be great if the weather was like last year, 3 days of sun and a nice tail wind down the track. If gas can stay down that might help but with the economy like it is alot of people just cant afford the trip. Lets hope things start to level out a little and people can get back to work and on with there lifes.

  9. We Went last year for the first time and had a great time spectating, and are planning to return this year maybe with my friends 62' Nova straight axle on his ramp truck. It's a cool combo. Does anyone recall the 57' Ford 2-door wagon that rolled in on a trailer for sale with no phone #. I have thought about that project all year and have built it in my mind a few times. It looked like a nice core to start with. I hope to see more 409 Impalas and maybe some T-Bolt clones this year, hope the weather cooperates.

I will be there again in spite of the fact that I will be missing a bracket points race at my local track. Im looking forward to seeing my old gasser buddies again.

I like how in the rules it says open headers only. NO MUFFLERS! You know its going to be great with that kind of rule.

I'll be there. I'd like to make some passes, but I can't get the link to the application to work.

...Cant wait. My favorite event of the year in Ohio. I go to the drags and swaps often, but this is gasser madness man.

You gotta have reverse gear also, in order to do a burnout in waterbox. Another cool thing is that the return road is right beside the track, and the walk-across over the track...I will go to B.G. also...Damn I wish my `55 was done!!!...damn,damn,damn...If any of you can make it, be sure to. It is an awsome show. Not as big as B.G., but still a great event...

Don't worry about hat crap. plenty of street outfitted cars run.

I will be there but no Comet for me this year.

The last couple of years this has been my first and last race of the season. Hopefully we'll have things sorted out this year so that we'll still be running for the fall event

HOST HOTELS: Sleep Inn (440) 275-2011; Holiday Inn Express (440) 275-2020. They're right next to each other, just off the Interstate in Austinburg. Ask for the THOMPSON rate. CALL the hotel directly. If you go through the 1-800 numbers, you'll get the higher rate. Sleep Inn is typically cheaper. Quality is excellent for both hotels. They're pretty new.

Across the street (100 yards) is the Comfort Inn (440) 275-2711 and the Travelodge (440) 275-2011. Both are OK, just not as nice/new as the Sleep Inn/Holiday Inn Express units.

Across the freeway is the Hampton Inn (440) 275-2000. Hamptons are always great but most of us stay at one of the four other hotels. We like to be close so we can walk outside and bench race in the evening. See you there!

    Hi Fred,

Can't wait to see and hear the "HEMI-FRED" Nomad.

Notes: Issue 107 (Winter 2009) is in the mail. JR Thompson is at home and recovering slowly after his heart attack. Congestive heart disease is the diagnosis. Gene Catoe had 2 stents put in his arteries, is breathing easier and looking forward to the 2009 GASSER Reunion. Unfortunately he can't drive the coupe. His left foot is paralyzed and until he gets an automatic in the coupe, his son (Chris) will be behind the wheel.

Looking forward to see you and the rest of the S&S Team at Thompson.

This is a little later in the year this year isn't it? Doesn't matter. I'll be there.

  29. Nope, first full weekend in June! As a participant, this event is better than bowling green hands down! I got over 30 passes in last year! BG your lucky to get more than 4! But they are both awsome....Hotels, we have more fun camping at the track.....
