Good choice, at least it has traditional elements , and retains the body shape of the car it is based on .
    What motor is that?

It would be hard to argue against this car. The workmanship is just breath taking.

    Thanks Nitrofish.

Jocko (the Highlander) picked that out on Friday. Looks like he called it. Nice car. Great show.

Thanks for the news. Another Deuce, sort of. It was my choice also. Great workmanship.

I think it's a good choice. Haven't seen it in person but from here is looks like a winner.

Seen it sat., Outstanding work on this car but I also liked the brown 35 ford. Tough choice between those two.

how often do you see a b400 with that much work put into it?? nice!!

  12. Thanks for the update...I can certainly think of worse cars that have won it...I think this car was very nicely done overall...no stupid graphics, no billet-laden interior and overall the design exuded good taste.

Design-wise it looked like a 2000's update on the resto-rod idea.

Although....I was kinda partial to this one tooooo...

Overall...a very good show...and in light of the current economy-a GREAT show!!

Is this the same B400 in the Rodder's Journal built by the Johnsons?

  19. No disrespect to a fantastic car and one that I'm sure is a worthy winner but that body looks 100% handmade to me. The doors are reminiscent of a deluxe 3 window coupe, the rear of the body appears to have a Vicky style bustle and pretty much all of the rest of it whilst stylistically close is nothing like a real '32 Ford B400.

How funny....I was told by a Judge at the 50th Detroit Autorama, That a car that has an Axle in the front will never win the Ridler again.......Our Roadster had an AXLE that year!!!! Good to see this car win.....

Fantastic looking car. My eyes are always drawn first to the grille on show cars, and this one looks beautiful in these shots.

I saw the B400 on Friday and hands down this was the best car at the show. Alan out did his self on this car.The brown 35 was also well built but it didn't show as well to me. But hats off to both owners and builders both cars were a work of art.

  26. Thanks for the info, nice to see a Deuce win the Ridler for the frist time since Bob Young's 3 window in 1999

The 32 roadster posted above could not win, it had been shown before. I still do not know how the 32 B400 was able to compete since it was in a mag that hit the stands before the show which I had heard was a No No. no prior showings in process or completed...

    can anyone explain this

  28. Straight from the Autorama website for the guidelines for the Ridler.
So basically, a car can be showin in bare metal, or an unfinished form, in a magazine article or video coverage. Last year's winner Ferrambo was shown in bare metal in a magazine article for "Drive Magazine" about a year or so before it debuted in 2008. Impresssion's was show in bare metal on the T.V. show "Rides" the year before it debuted and won the Ridler in 2005.

Beautiful car ! Glad to see a traditional look this year , unlike some of these autos that have won before . I like this look much better than the ones that are like nothing you would ever see one the road . They are all beautiful autos but I love traditioal looking ones ! It has to be very hard to pick just one from all the beautiful work that is at the show .
