Hey folks, WHAT A WEEKEND ! The Torques would like to thank EVERYONE, that came out to play, race, show, and generally have a blast. What a turnout - better than anticipated. And hey, we did the best we could with the weather. I'm scared thinking what might happen if we have a mild 60's day without 30 mph winds outta the north. WOW - that wind was a challenge, but everyone stepped up. We had a ton of out-of-state folks, bunch of long-distance folks, and it all added up to a fantastic time. The racing was fantastic, and tons of fossil-fuels were consumed. Thank you all. Our vendors were outstanding (in the cold most of the time). Thanks for being there. OK OK - next year we will sell blankets, OK ! The ice in my beer cooler didn't melt a bit. Anyway, want to congratulate the winners of the weekend. So, let's start off with the winner of the 'Bracket' Division. Mainly because I lost the paper with his name, and also what he drove to win. If he see's this, or someone else can help me pull my head outta my ***, I will edit/update this thread with his info. The only bike to show up, wins Street M/C, and again, don't have a pic of the bike, or his name. Street Rod Cl*** D/SR went to Collin Casey (Casey) in his unforgettable '32 Coupe. Only guy I know that can turn a drag strip into a 'circle-track'. Nick took C/SR in his '56 Chevy. Car #154 Hot Rod Bill... tool the B/SR cl***........... A/SR Honors went to Doc (Blasted) with his '34 coupe big-block. What a guy. Overall Winner of the Street Rod Cl*** was" Colin Casey - (Trophy *****) Hot Rod Cl*** C/HR went to David, in a sweet White '55 Chevy. B/HR went to Jim in another White '55 Chevy. Damn things are like Black, chopped Merc, EVERYWHERE. hehehehe A/HR went to a great guy, Dennis (Senior Fried) and HIS '55 Chevy. (is there an echo in here) File Photo AA/HR went to that damn radical Coupe of Larry's (Temper Mental). Damn he was wearin' out the track this weekend. Overall winner of the Hot-Rod cl***, was David, in the sweet, ghost-flamed '55.
OK - now for Top Eliminator. We ran the winner of the Street-Rod Cl*** against the Hot-Rod Cl*** winner, bracket style. So we have this white-hot flamed '55 Chevy: Against the old 'standby', '32 Coupe FLATHEAD, of Collin's: NOW - someone here help me with this. I do not know any other reason why this could be possible, but these two characters were in the FINALS at the 2008 Texas Thaw. SAME TWO CARS, SAME TWO DRIVERS. Can you say - consistant? Damn these guys are good. Anyway, Collin' get's the advantage, and David got a little two anxious and 'red-light's, WIN - COLLIN CASEY in the '32 FLATTY. Top Eliminator Winner: (Trophy *****) Now, it get's better. Last year I had a little episode with a certain transmission, at the Inaugural Texas Thaw. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=245406 So I decided to build a trophy for the '09 Texas Thaw out of the old, busted ****** parts, and name it, 'Big Kens Busted-*** Award'. This would be awarded to a sorry S.O.B. that like me, busted something. So, if you have read the other 'Thaw' posts, you would be aware that Collin Casey, Friday night, snapped his right axle, and lost a right rear, in staging. SO, it was decided that night, he would be the proud recipient of that award ALSO. So, for the last two years, this guy has DOMINATED the Texas Thaw. Can someone PLEASE - PLEASE bring some Flatty's for this guy to race against. The V-8 guys are gettin' tired of him. Again, thanks to all that particpated in the Thaw, and made it the success it was.
This was a fun event It was a very safe event. More people need to bring out their rides and scoot down the track .Hell I ran solo just to see if I could bring down my time.Big thanks to the Torques cc
Oh - guess what? We had ONE - SOLO Roadster show up to take on all comers.......Ed - Boom-Boom - Cannon WINS ROADSTER CL***: Ed - dig your tenacity. And I missed the winner of the Mini-Bike Drags, but they were funny as ****.........
