When I arrived on the salt for the first time years ago it was right after a huge rain storm. The drop off at lands end was into an 18" deep lake of salt brine. If you missed a turn out after a run you rode through what was like powdered salt. When you walked on the salt it packed on your shoes. The wife liked it as it made her taller. The green carpet in the RV was white by the end of the week. Took three hours with the vacuum and a bristle brush to clear it. As we left the salt for the trip home I said to the wife if I never saw this place again it would be fine with me. Strangely I've been going back every year since. And this year will be no exception. Even stranger is I'm making plans for next year with some friends who want to race there. So far the plans for 2015 haven't yet been finalized.

Kudos, which, admittedly is an understatement. As a life long enthusiast, participant, I realize the difference between going 200 and being a 200 mph member. Much respect, Dale Cleveland OH
I know it's an old thread but..... I entered the Bonneville 200 MPH club in 2000 with a two way average 260.139 MPH. In the past you had to first qualify for the record then the next day make 2 runs in opposite directions within 1 hour with the average being above the record. The number of partisapants will not allow that today so your qualifying run is now your "down" run. I got in the "easy" way Both of my sons are in the El Mirage 200 MPH club and working for a red hat at Bonneville now.
