200r4 in 49-51 Merc

I have a 50 Merc with Chev 350/TH350 combo. I would like to replace the TH350 with 200R4 and was wondering if anybody has done this to their Merc. If so, what did you do to the trans mount to extend it another 5 inches. Did the trans pan clear the existing crossmember or must that be removed. All advice appreciated. Roger

 

my old 51 had one in it. when it went out i swapped in a th350, don't remember making a new mount but maybe i did. shouldn't be hard just make a new mount that fits the frame.

 

I don't have a merc, but I have a shoebox ford with a th350 and stock trans x member

make your own xmember

mine has a simple metal plate bolted to the x member to extend the length of the mount, but it's only a couple inches

move your x member 5 " forward and re-bolt to the frame?
