Who gets their ******* in a wad over this? If you like it watch it, if you don't don't. If you want to see entertainment containing some (not all) neat old cars and some guys that like to throw their money around, sit back and enjoy. If not, stay on the HAMB and comment on whatever else pisses you off. I see Ron Pratt at the Lone Star Roundup sitting with Ryan and no one wants to send him packin' so its cool to see that he gets it and comes to our HAMB friendly event. The moral - enjoy the cars, and forget the rest.

Dad is flying in from Florida to meet me there. A Father/daughter car filled weekend in the warmth and sunshine. I don't give a **** how many times they say resto-rod, or if Ron Pratt is buying a million dollar muscle car. I'm going, I get to see some of my favorite AZ HAMB pals, check out some cool hot rod shops and hang out at some neat cruz nights. It will be cold and snowy in Michigan and I'll be in sunny AZ. Nothing to ***** about in my world.

Dad's looking to cop a great deal on a '50 Oldsmobile COUPE. I'm sure it won't be at the BJ auction but there is SO MUCH more going on in town that week and we plan to check it all out.

I plan to wear my HAMB shirt on stage and wave to my pals. I'll try to do it during the auctioning of a tradtional styled rod or custom.:D

Jim, Jim, Jim, you're a smart guy and I'm sure you have paid attention to the fact that ALOT of the ones that have gone across the action block lately (not talking about the muscle cars here) are being sold BELOW what it would cost just in parts and materials to build.

I haven't watched the BJ show for 2 years so I am sure there are cars that lost lots of money , but that's the gamble of a auction . I know you can never sell a car that you built to make money , that I will agree with you . We all do it for the love of the car/truck , but they use their cars as look what I have .
It's just that I know they have cars like what we all love but all they want to do is show the high price stuff and that just gets old . The ones we see on TV is the guys who have so much money they don't know what to do with it . A lot of the cars don't even see the road , they just have them so show off to their people and that's not for me , that's all !
That is all I am trying to say !

I hope you & your Dad have some fun and bring home a good 50 Olds coupe ! Want to see the pictures !
BTW anyone close to the cookie contest yet or did someone win already ?

Short of the super rare or famous cars, many of those go for a LOT less than what is probably in them. I watched a AD chevy truck street rod go for low 40s. With all that was done, I'm shure there was at least 10g lost on it. Many of the restorations loose $. It does **** that the farmer who just got sattelite tv sees this and suddenly the rusty $300 parts car 55 chevy sinking into his back 40 is now a $10g treasure.

It is ...... what it is .... If I'm bored & nothing else is on ..... I'll run the channel up to watch for a few p***ing cars.

I'm poor & can not relate to million dollar cars 4 sale. I don't hate them I just can't relate .... right now. I think Ed McMann just rang the door bell ...... my time may be here.

I agree with paco. I dont watch much TV as it is, I typically have it on for background noise, but when I do watch, its for the appreciation of the cars, history & style. I could care less what they sell for, who buys them or what egotistical celebrity thinks his/her signature/promotion is worth an additional $100K.

The only time I watch the price is when they are doing some of the charity cars to help kids or research. Its nice to see that people do have a big heart to go along with their wallet.

Background in the shop. If it's got cars..it's better than most anything else on the tube..

And a break from History Channel

  18. I watch it, it is entertainment, the whole process. How about the girl always rubbing on the guy for a bid while her husband is auctioning:eek:, what a team!:D Then there is the screamer guy, my son and I laugh at those antics!:D How about the mysterious phone bids when a car is not bringing all the money! ;)What's goin on then? How can anybody buy a car that some has been stands on the roof of, who wants one of those chargers anyway? I do like Mr. Pratt he seems like a down to earth guy and from what I read he is a self made individual and charitable! :cool:Maybe I'll start throwing in an old jacket:p when I sell something or include all the spare change from under the seats:D, that will secure the sale. I'm sure there is something there for all of us even if it is to people watch. I'd would like to go once for the experience, but you won't see me on stage!

Ron Pratte the Chandler, Arizona, man who submitted the $5 million winning bid for Carroll Shelby’s Supersnake Cobra has consistently refused media interviews, including to our editors. But he certainly knows what he wants and has the means to get it via the red-hot housing market in the American Southwest – specifically Phoenix and Scottsdale. As stockjockey over at the underthecounter blog points out, Ron owns Pratte Development Company, Inc., “one of the nation’s largest wood framing and concrete foundation companies.” So he builds houses for a living. In one of the fastest-growing areas of the country.

my favorite are the women who sit there with a puss on their face shaking their head "no" while the husband has that "I don't friggin' care if I have to listen to her ****- I'm raising my hand anyway" look..

I watch, or watched-Monster Garage-Overhaulin'-Rides-Orange County Chopper-Barrett Jackson, and I will continue to, simply because I am a car/bike junkie, and it helps me to get my "fix" (not sure about a 12 step program), there I said it. Not any of these shows suit my taste 100%, most far less, I ignore the B.S. and take from them what I want/enjoy. I have come to the realization, that there isn't a TV network, that will come knocking on my door for my specific needs/advice..so I will continue to take from them what I need. I figure if we support them, they will eventually evolve into something greater, (it's the optimistic side of me coming out).

  22. Your third line says it all. I saw that **** with bikes, and now that I'm back into cars, seeing the same ****. Interestingly enough,I may be out there for the first couple of days;my best friend is retiring and moving to Phoenix and invited me out for a few days. Lord, please let me hit the lottery so I can build a larger garage and bring home a Super Stock Mopar-or two.

How about The Tubes - "White Punks on Dope"

  25. A Tri-5 five Chevy was called a "shoebox" YEARS before it was used for 49-51 Fords. Sorry to burst your bubble on that one

  26. Yeah, thanks for clarity on that one! Chevy tri-fives were and are called shoeboxes, I guess its ok for the ford guys to use it too;). My size shoebox's are 55 and 57's.:)
