On the Easter long weekend just gone, we had the ASRF Regional Nationals here in WA, whenever they're held here, they're known as the 'Sand*****r Nationals' While most cruised down on Thursday and the Nats started on Friday, I had other commitments (burnout show at the local drag strip) on Friday, and headed straight from there to Busselton, where the Nats were held. We pulled into a mates (rented) driveway at about 2:30am, crawled into the back of the ambo and went to sleep. Saturday morning we got up, went into town for breakfast and then headed to the show. After the show, we headed over to catch up with some of the Cranksters, Goodfellas and Relics, then parked up on the side of the road, climbed into the back again for a sleep and headed home Sunday arvo after doing a bit of touristy stuff at the Busselton jetty (the longest wood piled jetty in the world, at 1.8km long, but currently under repair, so only the first 200m is open at the moment) I've managed to get preview galleries sorted from the weekend, but thats about it so far. Click here for the Sand*****r Nationals preview gallery. Previews of the other 2 days photos are on the same site, but not really HAMB suitable. Before the show closed to the public, there was an auction to raise money for Camp Quality, most (all?) of the traders and many of the entrants donated goods to auction for the cause.
A big thanks to all the rodders that helped us along the way from Melbourne and to the organizers at Busselton for a first cl*** event and the Cranksters rod club for there hospitality. cheers oggie
Sorry, being a bit lazy today... Here's a few pics I uploaded to my Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=413555&id=620245121&l=0a97a7efa4
Looks like a Jag motor to me, probably just stuck on that ford badge. Thanks for the coverage guys, That is a run I would one day like to head out to. A good 4-5 day drive from here so it would be a great road trip as well. Doc.
Yeah, it's a Jag. Belongs to Phil Medlin from down Williams way. He drove that roadster to the salt in 2004, bolted in a cage and some ballast and ran 144mph. He's since upgraded the induction to the six throttle bodies controlled by a Microtech ECU and recently had it tuned. It makes almost 400hp at the rear wheels, so he's pretty keen to get out on the salt again and see how fast she'll go now.
Thanx 4 info Brootal. Funky engine- Remember Utting & co. running low tens then 9 somethings with one of those in a '27 T in modified. Snarly sounds. Look great too. That's a very fine looking '34 tudor in orange in the background of these pics. p.s Guess you WA folks enjoyed the Power's visit on the weekend too ! I did. Ha!
Hahahah! Look, I love my aussie rules but I gotta agree with you Brootal! Only one kind of 'Football'. Wow! That's crazy. One of them yours? Would love to take one of them for a lap one day! HC.
Thanks for the pic's I meet the guy with the T V12 at the salt a few years ago when he had driven it across and then ran it, great little car, some nice rides there, I see you even had a few from Qld attend. Cheers, John
I doubt that one of those metro***ual "football" players could withstand a hit from one of those "handegg" players. The hooligans in the stands are tougher than the players, creedence for the "game played by gentlemen and followed by thugs" wheeze. Personally, I'll watch any kind of football. My Barclays team is the Scousers, NFL Patriots, and I'm working on an AFL team here, not particularly sold on the Eagles, perhaps Freo tho'. Need to find a good rugger team as well. I didn't get to make it to the Sand*****r gig, I was busy bodysurfing at the beach with the chilluns' and then barbequeing and drinking beer.
I played 'handegg' for a few years over here just after I left uni... I can tell you, for all the **** they get about wearing padding, those guys can hit hard and you'll be needing armour out there...
