Really a nice car and finally one that resembles a hotrod. Didn't Don Thelan do a car many years ago called Mirror Image that looked a lot like this years winner?
Ya, '86 or '87 or so. That's the one I thought of when I first saw this one, too. Frank Macnamera owned it? Maybe? I made a post earlier about the last AMBR winner that didn't ****, but I forgot to add one more to the list. '88 or '89, Irmee Imerso's Ardun headed Deuce... That's got to be the last AMBR car that didn't ****! Almost forgot that one. Funny enough, on e of the magazines heralded it as a "Return to normality at Oakland" that year. Musta' been kind of like an eclips or something - normality every twenty years or so!
Awesome car and I am glad it won. I dont even remember seeing it in the building. I dont remember seeing most of the cars in the building. Wait. I dont even remember the building. What show was this?
yup this'un here....makes me wonder if 'tradition' is morphing ...ie the Don Thelen built Mere Image was considered slicker than a jar of Brylcream and yet this years winner (which seems to me to bear a strong resemblance) is being considered pretty traditional...just makes me wonder is all...
I liked to car very much. The fit and finish was great wheel combo looked great with the stance. All around great car. I would love to have it and drive the dog **** out of it. Some of the winners over the past 10 years have been just nasty looking. I hope the judges for the Ridler will pull there heads out of there ***es and start to pick better cars. I was told by a judge that a straight axle car will never win the Ridler again
They're right there. Doug, the owner AND the judges thought it would be cool to display it WITHOUT the HLs. I kinda like them ON, but anyway, here's another pic of the car WITH 'em.....
