Hey Guys, we need some help. We have been invited to display at the Autorama and we have no idea what we're getting into. We've never been to Detroit before. Are there any areas we should stay away from for a motel? We're looking at one about 8 miles out in Dearborn. Where do most of the HAMBers stay?

 

Hey Guy's, I can help you out on the Motel rooms, A whole bunch of us stay at the Holiday Inn Express, it's about 5 blocks from Cobo and you can catch the tram (People Mover) right in Cobo and it lets you off 1/2 block from the hotel, the rate is about 100.00 and the Bar in the hotel is a happening place every night after the show closes.

PM me your email and I'll get you the forms for the hotel.

We always have about 50 HAMBers stay there.

Our gang has two rooms at the Courtyard by Marriot, it's on the Cobo tram route too. Last I checked there were still rooms available (two weeks ago).

 

I forgot to mention that I have 15 rooms filled out of a block of 35, so we have some rooms available yet.

well i'm plannin on being there this year....with Lil Beast too.......might need a lil push to get thru the door, we'll see...we got cleared to roll in last year, but the topolino just wasn't ready...been a busy year... life was full of non-hotrod stuff this year...but we're back in the garage so.....lots to do, but we're coming........

 

The show manager even stays there

 

Bob, I have reservations there and the rate was $112 for a non smoking two bed deal. Does this sound about right or was there a special car show rate?

gotta ask, being a first time to bring a car, but when is the best day/time to move in??trying to get my form ready to send...

 

I liked Thursday Morning. After you set up you have all day and evening to mill around and see whats getting unloaded prior to the Friday opening

 

I'll will be there as a spectator.

 

I will be there. Looks like i am draggin my dad and even my grandpa out. Good reason to head back home. Just wish it was in a better month. My Texas blood hurts in MI in Feb.

I just got off of the phone with the Hotel and the 2011 HAMB group rates for the Detroit Autorama are as follows.

Single 91.00 + Tax
Double 91.00 + Tax
Wet Bar Suite 131.00 + Tax
Full Bar Suite 151.00 + Tax

If you reserve directly through the Hotel you will be charged 112.00.

Spectating.

 

I'll be there, but no car this year.
Instead, i got an Artist Vendor Booth so i'm excited to have a spot to post up and kick it for the whole weekend. Also gonna be selling artwork, shirts, and posibly some other goodies.

last year i hauled Lil Beast 97 miles, back from having the frame modified..... 2/3's of which turned into a nice michigan white-out....just before autorama.....4 wheeled the last 46 miles at a crawl......so it wouldn't be the first time the topo seen snow...

this will be my first trip there with a car..so,......hopefully it goes well..

 

think im tryin to go this yr..i sat out a few years.
