What a weekend!! I truly have great friends. The run started at 8 am Saturday morning. I was texting Thom while I was at work early Saturday morning and it was decided that I would just go to his house and just crash for a couple of hours before the run then trying to sleep at my house for 2 hours and driving an hour and a half to Thomas shop.

So I get off of work at 230 run home grab my coupe and go. All was well then on 1-65 I start swaying hard reach down to touch the brakes and they weren't normal. Went for the gas and it just revved to the moon. First thought was I hit a crazy groove in the road, the bias ply tires sometimes drive me. And at the same time I lost my tyranny. But after further investigation I lost an axle in my rear end, I was stuck not going anywhere at 4am on the side of the interstate.

It's a gut wrenching feeling when you have to call one of your buddies that early, especially when the guy that is the closest is putting on the biggest car event in December in indiana,it starts in 4 hours and is most likely cuddled up to his girlfriend in his warm ass bed.

So I called, he gave me the shit happens speech and he will be there in a little bit, as I'm waitin on the side of the road a box truck slams on his brakes and backs up, two people get out and start walking my way, they say dude we say a chopped a on the side of the road and had to stop. It was a couple of guys from the cheaters cc out of Milwaukee. They are heading to brookville to pick up a 28-29 roadster body. I told them where I was going for the day and told them to tag along, they couldn't but would try and make the hotel festivities at night.

The cheaters hung out with me and bullshited about cars til Thom shows up,help us load the car on the trailer and once again life is good. I felt like an ass for having to call him so early, but he knows he can always call me.

It's now around 6 we get to Thoms shop and heather is already there making coffee. We power clean for a few then people start showing up,

Attendance was 397 at the first check in at the Indy 500 museum. That is about 300 more than Thom expected.

Red Bledsoe and John Cooper generously provided a free lunch at Bledsoes place a big thanks to them.

Then we went to the stutz museum in Indy, I saw my first auburn boat ail in real life.

I skipped the 3rd stop and it was probably the one not to miss, but I didn't sleep the night before and wanted to be fresh for the bands at the waterfront clarion.

The cheaters that hung out with me on the side of the interstate showed up to the hotel and fuck I got hammered drunk. Like drunk, I don't remember everything that happened but my wife sent me too bed which is never a good thing. Then she filled me in on my drunkeness in the morning.

The run itself is a fantastic event, It is put on by great people And it is a great cause, admission to the run is a new or gently used blanket that goes to the homeless of Indy.

Thank you Thom for saving my ass once again, I appreciate you.

The coupe is now down to 6 lives.
