2013 RCCRC - Reliability Run Melbourne AUS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by rat bastad, Jan 26, 2013.

  1. Ok fellas so the Reliability Run for 2013 has been run and is done & dusted. A fantastic event was enjoyed by the Entrants and the camaraderie was plain to see and enjoyed by all. No real "casualties to speak of during the run and all made it home safe n sound !!

After the inaugural event last year which was a blast, keeping up with "tradition" proved to be a slight challenge !! Last year we were fortunate to host both Ryan and Blake all the way from Texas and this year, Coby from Church Magazine made the huge commitment to fly out and join in on the fun as well as make the effort to capture the event on camera.

A HUGE thanx must go to Thommo, Bails, Greg, Ben @ Rancho Deluxe and all the RCCRC Crew who once again put on this fantastic event - well done gang. The RCCRC would like to thank the Entrants for the efforts made to attend, the extremely hight standard of the vehicles, their exemplary conduct and ongoing support of the Club itself - thumbs up fellas.

Blessed with good weather for the second year in a row, the initial rally point was a warehouse/factory in SE Melbourne that stores a private collection of custom built Elfin sportscars - an extremely hospitable host and very interesting collection of both vintage open wheeler Lotus race cars and some late model custom built Elfin open wheelers as well.

The rally point for the run kickoff was the RAAF Air Force base on the outskirts of Melbourne's West in Point Cook where the RAAF Museum was open to all and we are able to access the grounds to assemble before the run. This was an operating and training RAAF base during WWII and some of the buildings are still standing/being used even at this time. A really cool meeting place to set off from for the event itself would'nt you think?

Well enough preamble - here are some initial pix to kick off the thread and more of the story/pix to come....feel free to add 'em gang !!

    Roll on 2014 !!

    Rat

It was pleasure ,Coby was nervous when he arrived to pickup the Roadster ,I took him for a quick ride and explained a few things threw him in the drivers seat and said there you go.
He promtly drove out the driveway onto the wrong side of the road.
After a few laps around the court we were all a bit more relaxed about his driving.
If Coby could take the time to come halfway around the world for a little Rodrun it was the least I could do.
Thanks to Thommo and all the RCRR crew for a memorable weekend.cheers David

I'm too stupid to post pics from my phone, but I assure you there's still a smile on my face. David lending me a car was completely unexpected. That said, he needs to change his name from "Got a 32" to "32 hoarder"! He couldn't have been a nicer guy with some killer cars. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

It's hard to describe the quality of cars here. Unreal. And the hoops they jump through to own them is pretty ridiculous. Their passion is second to none.

I'm well aware of how lucky I am to be invited to this awesome event and wouldn't hesitate to come back. Great cars and even better people. Long love Australian hot rodding!!!

And to thommo, you're the glue, the drive, keeping us all enthused and on target - the run wouldn't happen without you. Thanks a heap, we've all had a ball just being part of the team that puts this together. Doug

Great images of kool cars and people, a big contrast to the contents of the Vic Hot Rod Show. So many flatheads! And the line up at Ben's workshop, all great...thanks for sharing.
