Well, there is much more to tell but not with my skills on a cell phone.
Shadow and I got home today just before 3:30pm. The rest of the flock is still enroute.
    Film at 11.
It is a long and funny story.
Not priceless but at least a little valuable.
Just back from taking the Madam to dinner... never know when might need more brownie points again!

    An update.
George and Randy should be home shortly after a bout of dealing with kitties and puppies coming down in buckets and one wiper, arm, and all flying off.
Scout just checked in and should be home shortly as well. Scout knew the storms were likely so he lathered up his steed with Rainex and put on his special foul weather gear including a bomber hat and drove on though it.
I suspect Jerry is home or nearly home...it is surprising to me that we all made the return trip in 4 days.
    More later.
    Tired Al

Hey Al, when you get around to telling your story I will want to know how your portable top insulation worked for you.

  15. Even though most of the boys are now home, I am still on the road and at the Rocky Mountain Nats in Pueblo, CO. Supposed to be around 100 today by we have a nice shady spot today. Some pics from today, Friday, first day of the show ..... Tom Tumbleweed,
You are doing a great job of continuing to carry the flag!
I look forward to your updates while I'm chasing pictures to share more of our trip.
I thought it was funny that all four our cars managed to find a different trail home and arrived at different times. Shadow and I arrived about 3:30pm; George and Randy about 6; Scout at 7:30; and Jerry about 9 after dealing with what he called the "natural bridge pressure car wash!"
Alabama Scout may still be cutting and/or checking new trails.
All of us that participated in the trip are amazed at the level of interest from everybody. Thanks. [emoji846]

Just wondering if anyone else noticed the water pump/ motor mount/alternator setup on this roadsters flathead?Pretty ingenious imho.

  22. Accident at the Nats here - one woman is hurt and being taken away in an ambulance ..... prayers and thoughts are wirh her. She is conscious and speaking with the medics ..... IMG_20160625_151118943.jpg

  23. Three cars involved - the really nice 2-door went into a Mercedes and they both went into a 65-66 fairlane I think it is. Not good at all ...

  24. Hope everyone is alright.

  25. Sorry not a Mercedes but an older Third ...

  26. Seems the Fairlane and TBird/cougar were not so badly damaged. She was angle parked like everyone else and came out of the parking spot and hit the pedal. She clipped a blue 57 Chevy and got spun around, hitting the cougar and then pushed into the Fairlane. So there were 4 cars involved and if she had not hit the 57 and got spun around she would have plowed into a whole crowd of people ... you can just barely see the skid marks in the last photo ... no word on the injured woman as of yet .... I've been busy collecting pictures and correlating them into some kind of reasonable time line... boy, there are a lot of pictures!
I've written an initial draft of the ride to LA but had to break it into two parts as it was so large with the many pictures.

I believe the removable top insulation helped considerably. Granted that a cabriolet is not air tight by a wide margin, the insulation boards kept the top from fluttering up and down at speed as it normally would. Each "flutter" puffs out what cool air that is in the car.
On the return trip it was considerably hotter and the insulation deflected a great deal of that added heat.
I recommend it for long hot trips and it wasn't tough to make or install or remove. Cheap, too. I also think it made it much quieter by virtually eliminating top "flutter. "
